F20 swapped drivetrain....
Nice, my only thought is that the vette whifed the launch. Looked good though. Also I think the vette caught him down track.

yeah... but the Vette can't carry a 7' chrismas tree INSIDE while doing it....

Reminds me of the one (1) time I beat a V-8-powered RWD domestic in my Corolla at a drag race. Best launch of my life. Probably one of the worst of his.....and.....if it hadn't have ended at the top of third gear, I would have rapidly lost the race.
Now the Z06 vs tuned AE86 would be reeeeeally interesting with lots of tight corners, depending on rubber on both cars.

That's what I was hoping this was. :( That would be really interesting to see...
I took my mostly stock-ish AE86 to the street legal drags one weekend night a few years ago when there were probably at least 100 cars there, and perhaps more. After a few passes where I lost by a few dozen lengths, I sat and watched for a while to see if there was anyone there I could race against and have some fun close racing. I remember determining that there were three likely contenders, a 70's Fiat, a lightly tuned VW Rabbit pickup, and an older minivan of some sort.
Yes, it is RWD with a solid axle, but 96 lb-ft at high rpm with a manual transmission doesn't help much at the drag strip. Hope for 17's...
Now, with a Supra engine, a big turbo, some tubs to fit big drag rubber, and a lot of development...high sixes...
Don't get me wrong, I love the AE86 and have owned two of them, but if the Corolla were to have won this drag race, it feels like a shallow victory if the car has a completely different engine than what the car came with, especially if the engine is from a different car manufacturer altogether.
"Hey, I just beat a Ferrari 458 Italia down the quarter mile in my Chevette" Oh, right, the Chevette has a twin turbo Viper engine in it. Yes, this is an extreme example to make a point, but at this point, is the Ferrari really racing a Chevette?

Sure it is. A Badass Chevette with a Viper motor.
