Driving the wife's car tonight the airbag light lit up, then went off, then lit up again only to stay on permanently.
It's a 2012 Hyundai Elantra.
What is everyone's guess?
We'll be taking it in to the dealer tomorrow to get checked out.

It's not a takata component. It's a different light than the one that tells you there is no passenger in the seat. Also the floor is dry.
My mazda has this problem on occasion. Turns out that when you move the passengers seat, it loses connection in the plug. Reach under, squeeze the plugs, fixed until you move it again.
Since it's your wife's car, did you have to move the seat? If yes, my guess is it is a connection in the driver's seat.

Cause you're not a good redneck?
Well the wife was injured in a terrible slide accident at the local street fair so the dealer will have to be delayed.
I poked around under both seats and could find nothing out of place. The light did go off one time when she shut the glove box, but came back on.

Hope she recovers fast. I get worried when my son wants me to do that slide at the fair with him but that's because I'm old.

They were hauling ass. The dude at the bottom stopped the boy easily enough but he put his leg in the wrong place and caught her ankle and it twisted badly. If he hadn't have stopped her she would have had some bad road rash.
