It's my understanding that aluminum and steel will "weld" over time if they're bolted together for prolonged periods (years). Anyone got a demon-tweak means of separating them? I finally pulled the trigger and bought a GT750 engine (which will undoubtedly need a rebore) so I've got to pull the cylinders (steel) off the aluminum cases. I've heard horror stories about the results of attempting this. Suggestions?

Do you mean dielectric corrosion? I have had to use heat in the past. If you are boring out anyway I wouldn’t be as concerned about warping. I have no experience with your application so I may be completely full of it.

Is not that bad on cases were it gets you is trailer bodyies to steel frames.

Rubber mallet after the nuts are off and use a rachet strap wrapped around the jugs and other end to anything over head if in the frame use top rail snug up on the strap tap cyl and resnug strap let sit over night then snug and tap it will pop out. Try not to do the screw drive under the fins you'll just snapem off

Here's the best online GT750 resource I've found: http://www.medial.com/suzuki/ This guy has done several concours restorations.

I have a GT750 myself, and while I haven't pulled the engine apart yet aren't the jugs aluminum with steel liners? I don't think there's any aluminum to steel connections you have to pull apart.

Okay, here's a spin on this idea.

Anyone have thoughts on the possibility of pulling the one-piece cylinders and head from the GT and replacing them with three individual cylinder assemblies from an RM 250 Suzuki motocrosser?

Even if they'd fit, I guess the question would be why. Are you looking for better porting in the cylinders?

Original spec for the 750 triple is 70hp.

3 X RM250 @ 55hp ea = more.
