Funny. It was him in another book that sent me down this road only written by Clint Brawner.
In what lap and what took his Nova turbine out at Indy?
What was the material pattern of his dress suit?
Why did turbine Novas run just two years before he went back to a standard Offy?

Why did turbine Novas run just two years before he went back to a standard Offy? The sanctioning body restricted the inlet to the turbine to uncompetativeness.

Novi was the ancient piston engine he ran before the turbines, wasn't it? The turbines were some sort of helicopter thing...Which lost a trans input bearing.
The suit was the famous STP pyjanas.
USAC kept shrinking the air intake size until it drove him away.
Supplementary : He ran all wheel drive at Indy until it was banned...I think.

We have a winner! Took him out on the 197.5 lab of 200 laps.
I forgot about the intake restrictions..I thought it was just that they banned turbo engines
I grew up in Cincinnati and went to the Indy time trials and races for years, starting in 1958..
At one time. Under yellow, drivers would have to maintain the distance between cars that was present before the flag was shown ie they could not close up the gaps between cars..was a bit boring. And the track is 2.5 miles around, cannot see but a part of it from the stands. Then I discovered Indy on TV..
