Just had a flash back...

Looooogn time ago  I had a coworker get a sendoff the day before he got married . They took and painted his younder parts with the silver stuff !

He is still mad about it 30 years after the fact.

And McMaster charged me thirteen bucks shipping.  Typical.  That's the problem I have with them.  They won't tell you the shipping because they are going to bend you over on it.  Well, that stuff is difficult to come by, so I guess that's the only choice, unless I wanted the hundred dollar nuclear stuff.

I have two bottles of this stuff.  It should last me till I die at the rate it’s going.

Oddly, I have two bottles as well. I have no idea why I bought a second one at some point, seeing as the one I bought about 15 years ago is still 2/3rds full.

Also, fact that you will get silver on your face, hands, and clothes no matter how carefully you use it.

I have two as well.  The older one is half gone BUT the brush thing that is part of the cap snapped off the cap so the second one was more about getting a new cap.

I ordered some from McMaster Carr today.  I have some brake work to do soon.

I thought copper was what you wanted for the threads of spark plugs, no?

Just use something! It was scary taking these out yesterday.

its the best.

Don’t use it. It’s overkill. Also under some temperature scenarios this stuff can make hex chrome. Stop and do not pass go is there is yellow powder.

Loctite heavy duty is the “normal” best. Nuclear grade isn’t any better.

Ordered from McM-C on 4-17 about 10:30am.  Arrived 4-18 about 2:00

Shipping was about $8 but it sure shipped quick.  Seems to have come from about 70 miles away.

Mine should be here today via UPS.  Shipping was $11.18, the rest was tax.

Just got mine.  It is a bigger bottle than what I had been buying, so overall, probably about the same price as the copper stuff at NAPA.

I use graphite grease on my spark plugs.  I think there's some legitimate debate regarding using any anti-seize of plug threads.

My only advice on plugs is to use a metallic based anti seize due to the need for conductivity between the plug and the engine.

Something one of my shop teachers told me years ago....

The Mason/Dixon line is where people switch from Loc-Tite to Anti-Sieze.

I use the silver permatex on bolts and such (just a dab will do ya, even here in the rust belt) but on spark plugs I like to use milk of magnesia (like from the drug store). I read an article a few years back about it being used for the igniters on jet turbines, and that what Champion sells as special spark plug lube is just milk of magnesia.

Supposedly the M of M allows electrical conductivity where anti-seez could possibly cause a misfire? I used to use the silver stuff on spark plugs and never had a problem, but I applied it sparingly.
