So today’s idle curiosity is the 06 to 12 Jeep grand Cherokee SRT eight‘s anybody here owned one? Yes I know about the 3500 pound towing capacity. My pop up is only 2000 pounds. Fuel economy seems crap on paper, but what is real world compared to EPA numbers? Also what about real reliability? Same as other WK jeeps Or better/worse ?
From the owners I know; fuel mileage is worse than advertised and they go through tires.
My dad has one that is in extremely good shape and is considering selling it. He is in Kansas.
Just drove it out to California to visit and likes it.
The backup camera just stopped working on the trip and the brakes started a little squealing but I think otherwise it’s been great
Is that the generation with the center exit exhaust? I thought those were a pain/near impossible to out a hitch on?
Or am I thinking of something else?

The brembos suck. Complete throwaway rotors and crappy pads. The front was $400 just in parts when I had to do one years ago.

The later generation is on my radar as my next DD in 2 years. So in 2021 and I'll try and find a 2018-2019. From what I understand gas mileage is 15mpg mixed, at best. Otherwise they seem fairly stout. If I can afford a Trackhawk I'd be open to it but those seem to get more like 10mpg and that's seriously bad.
I just had this exact same conversation with mtn and chandler over portillos Italian beef!! Haha. I had a 2005 Jeep wk hemi for a short while last summer. Not the srt8 I know, but I was also not wowed. Much smaller inside than I expected. Like, I'm pretty sure a Ford focus is roomier.
The srt8 might have a more luxurious interior package too, and I hope it does, because I really want to love the srt8. But after getting pretty close with the model level just below, I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Also, if it says the transmission is overheating when you are just idling in the driveway and the AC stops working, it's clearly because there is some corrosion on the red +12v lead to the battery (because Chrysler?). Ask me how I know.
