my brother found this in a field in SW Missouri. looks interesting.
My guess is one of the Citroen FWDs - aka "Traction Avant". Although it looks like it's been shortened and the Citroen emblems are missing from the grille.
The wheels look like Ford issue to me, so who knows what lurks beneath the body. I kinda like the look of it.
The bustle back trunk lid is neat. It would make an interesting hot rod, different from all the other stuff. It's a monocoque, so it would depend on how carefully it was cut and welded.
There's one too many wheel nuts for it to be properly French.
Traction Avant, surely. Quite an attractive car, in stock form.

SW Missouri and "careful welding" don't generally go together.

Don't they have a wide-5 sort of pattern?

It's funny to me that you posted that photo in this thread.
In maybe the first issue of Car & Driver that I ever read, there was a column by David E. Davis with a title something like "I drive a Traction Avant and a Topolino myself..."
I had never heard of either of those two cars before that day and now, here they are again sharing space in the same thread.
