It's anyone's guess, but if Hertz needs to sell hundreds of thousands of cars NOW, in a used car market which is functioning at a fraction of normal, it could cause a precipitous downward spiral in used car prices.

I've never bought a car from Hertz. I've rented a car from Hertz and thus would be a bit wary about buying one of their castoffs.
I did once try a 'Hertz Donut', but it didn't taste as good as it sounded like it was going to be.

I just bought a Dodge Grand Caravan directly from Hertz to replace our blue Mazda5 as detailed in this thread
My sister bought a car from Hertz in the 90's. A 4 door Achieva. Ran solid and died a pretty typical 90's rust belt death after many years of service. I would not be hesitant. Spent a lot of time in rental cars for work. Treated like regular cars, the ones you hear about being beat on are rare

I saw that! Sounds like you had a pretty good experience. I'm pretty sure I'll be joining you in the next week or so, incidentally also replacing a blue Mazda 5. I might try to go completely contact-free just to see how that whole process works, up until recently they were delivering cars to your door for test drives as well but that seems to have gone away.
