I have recently moved to DC and I don't think that I'm going to start my new job until September.
I didn't know if there was any challenge teams in the area looking for a hand?
Let me know.

I don't need help, but I am on the same boat as you. I've been here about 5 weeks and have yet to even think of doing this. Man I miss having a car and fooling around with one. Good deal if your in DC it seems, since you got two guys willing to help out.
Let me know as well. -Greg
I'm going to be instructing a PDX at Summit Point this weekend. If you want you could come up and help me with my racecar Saturday since I'm testing it during my instructor sessions. If you put the seat and belts in it (that I have, just need to go in) then I'll take you out in the car too.
This applies to both of you if you both want to come. I live on Kent Island, just east of Annapolis BTW. Steven
Well, we have a car in Sykesville, MD that likely needs work. Anyone good at swapping heads, and checking the lower end of an engine? We are hoping to make the Challenge this year, though it looks more and more like last year.
excuse me, I have the rights to the name "Josh" in the DC area. Please move along
I think you want a '71 GT6 for $500 and build it into a challenge car. And I have one for you :)
StevenFV19 - I wish I could help you out this weekend, but I'm heading back to Indy and gather some more things.
Mistanfo - I have swapped a few heads. What is the car you're working on? I live in Alexandria, so the drive wouldn't be too bad for me.(Depending on what time of day)
Josh - Sorry...Could I take Josh #2? If I had a place to work on that GT6 I would get it in a second.
Thanks for the offers. Besides simple maintenance I haven't done much but I really want to learn to do more advanced mechanical work. Unfortunately I am literally IN DC (as in staying in GW dorms) and have no car so moving farther than the metro will take me is not easy for me.
My offer still stands though if anyone would like help who is in or near the DC metro area.
Just thought I would bump this thread.
The offer to help some people in the DC area is still available.
Just let me know!
In reply to NVHEngr:
how'd I miss this? apparently the Josh's are invading as I've been here for about a year now.
also in a similar boat but I commute to Lorton every day by car from near Logan Circle so I'm a bit more mobile. I also have a transportable MIG and I would say an intermediate level of experience. I've done successful DOHC head rebuilds, suspension setup/tuning on miatas, and transmission internals work but have yet to tear apart/rebuild a bottom end (no fear, just had to learn it all on my own and haven't had a need/opportunity yet). I got myself in a little over my head trying to do too much too fast for an '08 challenge build (BEC on a challenge budget) and also got laid off a week and a half after the '08 challenge. now I am gainfully and steadily employed again and looking for a track rat for next year. still have that GT6, Josh#1? either way, i'd love to get together with some of ya'll for some wrenching and imbibing.
I'm down for the "imbibing" part. I'm finishing my garage build in Arlington, and just purchased an '02 miata motor/trans set for swap into the MG Midget (has a 4age now). Should be working on it over the next few months as school and the garage allow.
In reply to Teh E36 M3:
if you'd like a hand with the swap, I'd love to lend it!
we also lived in arlington for the first 9 months, apartments at the corner of 10th and 50.
Teh E36 M3 - Where do you live in Arlington? I live off 395 and Seminary.
All the people in the DC area should get together and have a few. Maybe a challenge car next year.....
