Just building up a track car with my 225 audi tt.
it's a 1.8t engine haldex quattro for those that don't know. mac struts up front. trailing arms/upper a arm rear.
I'm cruising around on a temporary tester suspension. stock shocks rear. ebay coils front. linear springs all around.
I have a few different springs to pick from.
current rates are in the 250-400lbs range. And it feels very close to stock in terms of comfort tbh. I feel like the car could handle a ton more springrate. Current roll stiffness is an improvement however. maybe 30% over start.
I've also heard that there is a suspension springrate "ratio" issue going on. the front is ok, but aparently the rears only function half as stuff as the rated spring.
I have no idea what to do with rollbar stiffness either.
Then theres haldex modding options. Controllers and cheaper pressure adjuster thingies.
How about tire widths? I was just going to stuff the fattest I can fit under the fenders. maybe 265.
Plans are to make the car streetable but primarily track focused.
I'll be HPDE and autox. And if i'm real lucky maybe time attack, but idk if thats available around here.
I have yet to track either of the ones I have owned. My current one is a 2004 3.2 dsg sitting on -1.5" eibachs and koni yellows.
It is way too low for New England roads in the winter as I hit the under carriage on every frost heave. Just an FYI for the street.
How married to the platform are you?
The reason I ask is that if you take that TT remove the halidex unit pull off the slick load drag coefficient body and put a hatchback on it and call it a GTI, parts are a lot more readily available more cost-efficient and effective tried and true and you're operating costs are much lower as you're not feeding an all-wheel drive setup that does very little to benefit you on track. As an added benefit the engine bay is slightly larger making it much more enjoyable to work on.

Actually if you did that then you would be in the same car the parts would
When I lived in Canada, a buddy of mine had a 1st-gen TT coupe set up for track use. I don't remember it being very quick or handling all that great, but he loved the car...and I remember thinking it was cool. His was FWD only (if I remember correctly), so I don't know if that makes a difference.
FWIW, Audi TT was recently named to Hagerty's list of cars likely to appreciate in value due to "collectibility," And Wayne Carini really likes his.
Motor stuff is just like any other 1.8t but a better base as you already have a k04.
Suspension stuff is like mk4 R32 which plenty of people track.
