OK, who else is going? I haven't got my tickets yet, but I've got my room.
"Nascar on crack"! That's something I can get excited about, especially since they don't just go around in circles.

" As in NASCAR, the vehicles are essentially stock cars—cars that most people could buy,"
perhaps the author isn't very familiar with NASCAR.....
That said, I'm excited about V8 Supercars for sure....

No really!! I see cars just like Nascars on the road every day! Why my buddy's car is just like Tony Stewarts and he's just as good a driver as old Tony too.
You must have been listening to those old wine drinkers spreading rumors about Nascar. THIS HERE IS THE REAL 'MERICAN IRON.
what are you talking about. Look, here's a car JUST LIKE Dale Earnhardt's car, and it's clearly street legal.

The V8 Altima doesn't look much like the one's at my local dealer either. Maybe it's cause the wheel is on the wrong side.

I didn't realize they were so extensively "not stock" actually. From the outside they actually do look like the "real cars" in my opinion.....Don't V8 supercars have headlights and taillights, side mirrors, and windows and such? And they seem to vary in appearance in line with the actual marque, whereas the COT in NASCAR is pretty much exactly the same car for all brands, with different stickers to give the appearance of difference.
Could be wrong though...
In reply to irish44j:
Up until last year they were, but now they're silhouette cars, but I think they use factory sheetmetal.
It's still the best racing around, period.

small detail, but the new "Gen 6" NASCAR racers that they rolled out this year do vary from make to make. the windshield and rear glass shapes and angles are different from make to make, and they are built out of factory supplied (but not production) sheetmetal and carbon fiber panels that are hung on what amounts to a spec chassis.
WOW! What a schedule!!
World Challenge Cup & the V8 Supercars! I'm going to be so tired, but happy.
I hadn't realized anyone else was running with the V8 Supercars until I finally got my GRM on Saturday, so this is a big plus of a surprise for me.
While my wife has ridden along and even done some autocross I recently gave her a "racing class" where she drove a track in a Corvette plus did some ride alongs with instructors. It transformed her, but then track days normally do when compared to autocross. She watches for the racing line on the street and at the COTA Grand Am even went so far as to criticize many of the racers.
Now she's the biggest fan and even tho I was considering not going since money is tight - she insisted!

I wanted to be in the B Spec race, as it would be the closest to a 'home' race I could get, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen.
