I am thinking C5 vette specifically a FRC or a Zo6. For the money they are hard to beat.
I am selling my B13 and my Chevelle to purchase the new ride.
The corvette checks all my boxes but a 4 seater would be nice in a pinch.
What else is out there for around 15k?
Not interested in a miata, I have tracked a momentum car the past 15 years and I am ready for some horse power .
You're not going to find a Z06 in your price range in decent shape.
Don't kill yourself trying to find an FRC. The differences between the FRC and the regular C5 aren't huge. Although if you find an FRC, great.
Yes, the C5 is hard to beat for a fasts per dollar ratio in a nearly stock car with good reliability.
Purple Q45 would be the perfect oddball "faster" car for you, would keep it in the Nissan family.
More seriously the C5 corvette will be hard to beat in that price range.
S2000s are really nice and easy to work on(a lot of Corvette stuff does suck to do), reliable, and fun to drive.

I can buy my friends 2002 Zo6 with 90k for 15.5k. He bought it at auction for 15k, if the Chevelle sells I will buy it the next day...
I passed on a silver 2000 FRC today for $7700 at manheim atlanta. It needed tires and had more miles then I wanted at that price point. I would be posting a build thread if it went for the 7000 I planned to spend on it.
Didn't even think s2000, good suggestion.

All the FRCs are Z51s, and they are lighter, and stiffer.
FRC no questions.
I know a guy who bought a rough z06 for 11K, they can be had under 15K but take some hunting.
Zzw30 mr2 then build. you can build a Ridiculous one for 15k.
With your ability to buy cars well and fix/maintain/mod them too, an e46 M3 would be worth considering. It would be tough to beat a corvette with one, but it is a true 4-seater, which you mentioned.
The e46 m3's scare me maintenance wise.
I have owned several mr2's. A swapped 3rd gen would be pretty awesome. I really enjoyed the two 3rd genes I owned in the past.

I was gonna say e46 m3 is the only almost competitor.
Nothing beats a c5 zo6 in performance / $$
Another consideration: RX8
Very reliable on track, and you could buy one + a new crate engine for backup well under budget. And 4 seats.

Yeah, if you want legitimately half the horsepower of the zo6 in the same size car.

Realistically, look at the most recent issue of sports car mag with the scca autox nats results.
I bet the c5 zo6 is the cheapest car to trophy in ss, as, bs, cs, heck, maybe all the stock classes. And it's one of the fastest.
No love for a camaro or mustang? The new body style camaro will be the one to get in a few years. ..
The 2004 ZO6 I co-drove this year is for sale. 15K and has something like 50,000-60,000 miles on it. It was a beast for autocross. Owner got FTD with it.
Pm the contact info if you don't mind.
Pontiac GTO? Not the fastest at anything but it could possibly seat four.
