Rev posted his soon-to-be legal Lancia desire elsewhere, and it made me think.....

What other almost 25-year old cars would you want to begin lining up the purchase of if you had a spare slot in your garage that had to be filled with something different & special?

I'm not playing, because I am "on restriction", due to not getting rid of 2 cars when I bought the last one, like I "promised" SWRETID. (She Who Rises Earlier Than I Do)

Since I live in Canada, I can get 15 year old cars. The almost-15-year-old car I want is an MY02 Alphard.

Here's what the current generation looks like, and features 16-colour disco headliner lighting:

The 2002 is slightly uglier, but they're pretty much all the same underneath.

Well, All of mine were already listed. The only other thing I would think about would be a mivec Cyborg RS just because I like a High RPM Hatch back

Nope

There are something like 2 aftermarket converted LHD R33s in existence and it's pretty obvious they aren't factory.

On the higher end: Nissan Stagea, basically a skyline GTR wagon.

On the cheaper end: Suzuki Alto Works

There may be some other KEI cars that I would like too, but I doubt that I'd fit in most of them.

The masochist in me wants a higher end Citroen. An Alfa might be a better way to scratch that itch But then if your going Italian, might as well just get the darned Lancia!

I had a 1.8 manual FTO for a while. It was amazing. I am seriously considering getting a friend in Japan to source me a minty V6 manual GP-X in black and send it over.

The automatic transmission on those were really good for its time. It would learn how you drive then begin a shift program for you based on your "granny" granny driving. And then "track mode" did all the shifts firmer and downshifted appropriately. It's like the new is200 is supposed to be. Except mitsu did it 25yrs ago.

can't get a pic. But the last rwd Celica GT-Tr that came with a 3t-gte would be awesome, not many made (only 300) but it would be cheaper than any other JDM import because ppl have forgotten about this car.

Hmm already hit on the FTO, Cosmo, and Beat

I'll go with: Pulsar GTI-R

I guess they're already legal here as Japanese Classics sold one.

I'm holding out for the RX7 Spirit Rs to come of age though. That's a long ways off right now.

'93 was the first year of the Fiat Coupe. I'd want a later, 5 pot turbo model, but I would take whatever solid example I could get.

'93 was also the first year for the Peugeot 306. Again, I'd prefer a later, GTi or S16 model, but wouldn't kick any 3-door hatch out of bed.

Two cars i'm going to actively hunt once they become legal:

R33 GTR V Spec

S14 Silvia Autech

I may consider a Stagea Autech over the GTR though.

Why do people like the FTO? I never have really heard anything good about it. Just sounds like a Mazda MX6 but built by Mitsubishi.

If the GTR fails, as in it becomes prohibitively expensive before I can get one, I will look for a Celica GT-Four RS aka Group A aka Carlos Sainz. I was interested in a Pulsar GTIR for a while but I fear their reliability. I may still get one if they become cheap again and I can afford a rebuild.

So stupid question on these....Other than a trip to japan (not out of the cards BTW) where are some good places to test drive some of these? I know some get into Canada. There are a lot of these that I think I'd like but have no clue because I've never driven them.
