I guess the blower was too much? lol jesus that thing is rediculous. shame he "wasted" a stock (rare) alltrac on it though?

I want this so damn bad. LOL I don't have anything that is really worth that amount of cash I can liquidate though...

It's cool, but the first thing that came to mind is the weight of the V8 is REALLY high in the chassis. If you look at the pic (hillclimb?) you can see the rear weight transfer. A bit of re-engineering might be required, but I agree, it is very cool!

yeah and an iron block bbf, even with aluminum heads and intake, is still a TON of weight. with the blower mounted up top that thing must have been a bit top heavy.

In reply to andrave:

True... but in many ways, the hard work has been done so it wouldn't be too hard to swap in a SBF to lower the weight a bit... or one of Ford Racing's aluminum SBF blocks if there's cash to burn.

A 460 long block is 515 pounds, that's no accesories, no manifolds.

mine with iron everything and dressed is apparently like 750, 800 lbs, from what I understand.

I've horsed around enough 3sgtes, E151F transmissions, and AllTrac transfer cases to know that that car is probably lighter than stock.

yeah, but the ford 8.8 is heavier than stock front or rear diffs. even with whatever lightweight drop box it probably has in it, the 460/c6 combo weigh in at least 850 lbs dressed and wet. if its iron heads maybe more, and with the blower, I'd add another 75 lbs. easily. I get what youre saying about the stock E36 M3 being heavy, but as a user of the same drivetrain in my ford truck, I can tell you, its heavier.

In reply to andrave:

I dunno man, it has IRS and IFS, so those 8.8's are just the actual ring & pinions. Plus, the car has no floorboards/pan and is gutted to the extreme.

That and the engine's COG and transmission's COG are along the crankline which is still going to be fairly low. Add to that (or "remove" i guess) the missing weight of the hatch glass and the lack of the superchargers, and I'd bet it's not that bad. And the COG to track ratio with those 335s on there is probably pretty good.

I'd drop some of the Ford racing aluminum heads and an aluminum intake on there and let the COG be where it ends up, and call it a day.

oh I'd let it be just the way it is, especially for $6.5k. Just play with it till I wrecked it and/or blowed it up.

but since thats not happening, its like, why not bench race it and second guess it?

Ok. I'll be the dissenting vote.

Aside from the novelty, I don't see the attraction. If the motor was stuffed (partly) under the hood of a ratty old Maverick or Mustang II or EXP or some E36 M3, cool. That just looks like somebody got past the point of no return and said "Well. berkeley it. Too late now. Maybe I can get $5k for it when I'm done."

If anyone is interested, I have a client who wants to sell her '89 convertable AllTrac. It's pretty nice and think she wants about 3k. Sits in her garage most of the time but it does get driven a little.

Unfortunately, no such thing. If it's a vert, it's probably got the 3sfe in it and is FWD.

Agree with the do not want. I've chased way too many cones behind this thing. It never seems to hit just one, but it does a good job of cleaning out an entire box. It's an under steering pig that I've seen finish maybe 5 runs in 3 years. He never got the thing reliable before he added something else. The Hino flatbed painted the same way was kinda cool though, but scary to watch the load/unload process.
