You are right. Sad but true. I remember when I lived in Montgomery, AL, one woman set another one of fire because of an unpaid 25 cent gambling debt.
Sorry to hear this, hopefully they find you friend soon!
Wow, this really sucks. Good reminder to be careful out there. The same applies when buying, BTW. The "seller" expects you to show up with cash, especially if the car is in the "GRM price range". I've had a CPL for a few years and almost never carry. Buying or selling off from Craigslist/classifieds/front yard is the one situation where I always carry.
Really sorry to hear this.
And now you understand why I take a lot of car parts and either give them away to locals in the "scene" or just throw them away. I refuse to list anything on, or deal with CL folks.
Person was arrested. Body not yet recovered.
News report
More on bad-guy #1 who drove in the Baja 1000 in 2009 and seems to come from a wealthy family who owns an aviation company.
This report says there were two test drives (two separate days) and that bad-guy owns nearly the exact same truck.
Wishing the best!
Another report says a different Ram Truck owner encountered the two bad guys the day earlier...must have not been as nice of a truck.
Report said:
Kinsella said the communications trail then led them to a Toronto man who had earlier given the two suspects a test drive of his own Dodge Ram truck posted for sale online, and gave police the key detail of the wrist tattoo.
He said the suspect now charged by police is believed to have been behind the wheel of that truck tryout, which occurred one day before Bosma's disappearance but ended without incident, though the seller later told police the two men were "suspicious."

I had been harboring my own personal theory that this abduction had little to do with the truck but after reading that above, it seems it has only to do with obtaining a truck.
Lets see if I go this right...
They have one suspect
They have released a description of the second suspect
Thye are NOT releasing the name of the second suspect.???

According to media reports, Mr. Bosma’s truck was located Sunday at the home of Madeleine Millard, Mr. Millard’s mother, in Kleinburg, Ont.
Still searching for Tim Bosma
In reply to JohnRW1621:
This part is especially odd...
According to multiple media reports, Mr. Millard, who once held the world record for flying a helicopter solo and a Cessna plane on the same day at age 14, comes from a family of pilots. His grandfather Carl Millard was a pilot with Trans-Canada Airlines, which later became Air Canada. He founded Millard Air in the 1950s with 20 aircraft. Once a chartered airline operating out of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, the company moved to the Region of Waterloo International Airport in 2012 after its lease at Pearson expired. According to Canadian Skies, an aviation magazine, Millard Air bought a 50,000 square-foot facility at the Waterloo airport to perform heavy aircraft maintenance.
Inspector Kevin Thaler with the Waterloo Regional Police Service confirmed that Waterloo police officers are assisting the Hamilton police investigation by “guarding a hangar at the airport.” The Hamilton Spectator reported that the Millard Air Hangar 53 was being guarded by police.

The media reports seem to be leading down a path that would lead you to believe that the suspect being held in custody had the means to buy a truck, so why would he steal one?
To the poster one above, I don't think they know the name of the 2nd suspect. I don't think the individual that has been charged is talking.
Millard's father and/or G-father built the business. Millard is the new boss after his father's death.
Just because they have a business does not mean he has any money.

Just from quickly reading the articles there seems to be more going on than just wanting to steal a truck. It could turn that it was just a random act but I won't be surprised if it isn't

Maybe his business is really selling white males into slavery and the truck was a clever ruse .
Or... he is just a crazy meth head making E36 M3 decisions as his life comes unraveled and getting caught on the 2nd try will save the next unfortunate bastard.
Probably #2.
Man, that really is scary. Hope it turns out better than it sounds so far.
Whenver I sell a car on CL, for concerns over safety, I don't get in the car when the person is going for a test drive.
Maybe they were looking for Tim(for whatever reason) and all they knew was he had a Dodge pickup for sale, thus prompting them to test drive them all until they found him?
With a heavy heart... Tim's burned body has been found. The investigation continues.
I am very sorry to hear about your friend.
I had hoped for much better.
My thoughts go out to you!
I too am sorry to hear about that.
