Fabricating a new trans mount for the old #71 car last week, I experienced all of it. I am installing an NV3500 in the track day car. (74 Dodge Charger) Good news is that it is done now short of fabricating a remote shifter.

Just the start of it. What you don't see in the pic os the 5lb piece of square steel stock that was on top of the trans as a spacer to help me get the drop angle correct.

Like I said.... WAS on top...

One fracture eye socket later...

I have been hit before... I've been in a life threatening motorcyle accident... but NEVER have I had anything hit me like that did. I got sick.. like threw up sick. Bled like a stuck pig, etc. Doc says it's all good. Nothing in there to hurt.

And the next day...

All done minus hooking up the clutch and installing the drive shaft.

I might even have a cool scar to show off later. Chicks dig scars! :)

I once read a Steinbeck novel (can’t remember which one) where a mechanic claimed that skinned knuckles at the beginning of a job were a sign of good luck.  You should win a few trophies with that car if that’s truly the case.

I thought only Chevys required an offering of blood to make them work.

I think half of the nausea is thinking if it had been aimed a little bit differently, you would have lost your eye.  From most of my injuries that thought made me the sickest.

So glad you are well and looking forward to a cool scar!
