ARE AWESOME.
Went from 19 inches of vaccuum at idle to 22 inches of vaccuum at idle, with faster spool up, and MOAR POWAH.
That is all.

Boost leak testers? I've always used two PVC pipe caps, with a valve stem drilled in one of them. Pressurize to 50 psi, come back in an hour and measure again.

That's kindof what i used... except used a air compressor fitting.
I found two MASSIVE boost leaks that i had, actually almost directly off the compressor side. Cranked them back down, shuffled a little bit, and we were golden. Idle doesn't bounce when you come to a stop anymore, spool up is way faster, and seem to have picked up some power on the butt dyno. (probably from the spool up.)
Next stop? 20psi.
I have access to a pressurized smoke machine at work, mother of schnitzel what a time saver. Intake tract integrity is now one of the first things I test with any new car I acquire.
Smoke machines can save your bacon. It's not a tool you use every day, but when you need one, you need one.

I can get pics, give me a couple days. Buddy has it right now working on his MR2.
Picture of the smoke machine I'm using... crappy picture but you just see the smoke whisping up from a leaking oil separator. This thing uses 12v from the car to heat mineral oil and shop air reduced to 5 psi to pressurize the smoke. It has a little flow meter which gives you an idea of the air leak size or ideally, lack of air leak.

...isn't that what i told you was going on when you suddenly started hitting boost cut out of nowhere? well, glad it worked out, i'm not bitter

Well... i'm still hitting boost cut in the same place. But that's simply because of how boost cut works on this car.
I could disconnect the charge pipes entirely from the car, and it would still hit "boost cut" at the same point.
