I have a caged champcar.  I have NEVER been to a track day that didn't allow it with the exception of TNIA.

You should be able to find plenty of places to run that car.

Look at track schedules.  Lots of tracks have open lapping days where that would be fully welcome.

This shouldn't be an issue.  It sounds like 1 person has an issue that it is a racecar.  Just look elsewhere.

Too bad you're not in MI. If it has a VIN, it's street- legal!

its ok though! I have been in contact with other organizations that were very welcoming when I asked if I could race the car.  I guess I never realized all the other orgs out there and was just worried I was out of luck.

That event does look a bit like a TNIA without having the name attached to it, though. Either way, as others have said if they don't want to take your money, there are going to be a bunch of organisations out there who'd be more than happy to have you run with them.

I'd read that!

So I stumbled upon it on bring a trailer a few weeks ago looking for my next mistake.  I was supposed to be looking for houses and movin out but hey.... race car.  
 

drove out to Detroit and back to pick it up. I'm trying to get in contact with one of the original owners that converted it to road racing to get a better history. 

So far I know that the car was originally raced in the Busch north nascar series then bounced around clubs.  Currently has a radical small block 353 Chevy backed by a clutchless gforce 101a (gonna have to learn how to use that haha) and a winters quick change rear end.  Willwood 6pot fronts and jzf(or something of that sort I don't remember off the top of my head) 4pot rears. And some more that I'm still finding and learning about.  This is the first purpose built race car that I have owned and it's a learning experience for me.  I'm not very good on the mechanic side of things, so that's what I got my dad to help me out with.  I just drive the damn things lol.

ill take some more pictures when I'm home and get them posted later today or tomorrow for you guys

Welcome to the car lovers asylum.

That guy in the email sounds like a knob. Glad you checked other groups, spite scca and run with NASA, or any other group. Everyone I run with mixes race cars, street cars, and literally everything in between on track at the same time. It's part of the fun when you're in the open passing groups.

NASA will welcome you with that car for HPDE. May have required some special attention pre-Kung Flu because only one seat (I'm guessing) but with the move to lead/follow instruction shouldn't be a concern.

It should be a good car to learn mechanics on. Busch North cars a pretty simple and hard  to break.

Here's some various pictures I've taken from it.  Cars a little rough on the outside but were working to clean it up some.

Also,  Going through the big binder that came with the car.  We found this old photo.  I dig some digging around and this is potentially a Hermie Sadler Busch series car from 93-94.

If it is, thats pretty cool I think.

If you need a fire suit, I highly recommend getting a used Nascar Suit like you might find from a place like this.

Not to be a "posser" but rather to complete the overall look. 

Time to stock up on some Busch Beer trucker caps too for those times at the track when you do not have your helmet on.

If events at Autobahn are near to you, then evens at Gateway in East St. Louis might be convenient for you too (not sure where you're located.) Gateway is about 3.5 hours south of Autobahn.

Gateway is also a Roval (Oval track with road course in the middle.)  The Nascar might really shine on the oval.

I think this is Track Touring thing is a new program that scca is experimenting with and doing HPDEs. The person you spoke with sounds like a dweeb. Plenty of those across the different companies that sanction racing and do track days. Human nature and all that...

As others mentioned, go to the track websites that you want to run. The tracks usually have an events calendar that lists the organization that is renting the track on any given day. Then google for the org and contact them directly. SCCA, NASA, BMW cca, Porsche club, hooked on driving are in most places.

In the midwest, Auto Interests is a good track day org that does formatted progression with their instruction, and allows "racecars."

In fact, there was an ex Rusty Wallace car at the last track day I ran with them at Nelson Ledges. I run my Lemons/Champ prepped car with them, and have had no issues.
