In the process of replacing the bushings on my civic, I managed to cross thread one of the lower control arm pivot bolts. Having already sent myself down a creek without a paddle the captive nut inside the subframe broke off while trying to remove it. The access holes in the subframe aren't in a good position or large enough to get at the bolt. I really don't want to tear the front end of the car apart again as I'm doing this in a driveway with the car a foot off the ground. My two thoughts are to have a shop either weld the bracket that the pivot is in to the subframe or to cut the subframe open to get access, make the repair the right way and then weld the section back in. The car in question is a beater in every sense of the word and realistically only has a few years (fingers crossed) of useful life left in it at best. What would you do?
