I love Bruce Meyers. I'm happy to see him and Red honored. That car belongs with Cords and Dusenburgs. Its that important.

Awesome video! Thanks for posting that one up. Bruce Meyers always seems like such a nice guy and the Manx is so cool. I still have my gas powered Cox dune buggy model from when I was a kid because I liked it so much.

I had one of those! Mine was metal flake blue. We added R/C steering and throttle, and a Tee Dee instead of the usual .049. It was a lot of fun to drive.

[edit] Oh, and my insane sister had a Manx as a daily driver for a years. In Pennsylvania. In winter. With a baby.

One of the reasons our Manx is like a family member is that Bruce Meyers is such a great guy, and getting to know him (and his wife, Winnie) made this project personal. That, and it's awesome. Every time someone asks if the Manx is for sale, I am slightly taken aback. It's nearly as if someone had asked to buy one of my kids. (Though come to think of it, there have been days I might have been tempted by the latter offer.)

He is remarkably sharp for an 88 year old.

I was getting the Carrol Shelby effect . . .

I don't think Bruce sued everyone involved with dune buggies.

There were a ton of rip offs in the dune buggy world, but none looked as good as the Manx. The Berry Mini-T came close, but it wasn't a clone or really even a dune buggy.

There's a Barris Mini T for sale around here.

I came across an original Manx at a swap meet some years ago (it still had the original ID tag on the body shell) and was seriously tempted, even though it was a basket case. He really got the design right the first time.

"I don't think Bruce sued everyone involved with dune buggies."

There has been some grumbling in the past and a lot of grumbling in the present with "unauthorized" reproductions of the bodies and especially the emblems.

Nobody's a saint at this level of the business. Law suits seem to replace mowing the grass and trimming the hedges as activities for these oldies . . .

Not looking for a fight here, I could honestly care less about defending or attacking millionaires, they have lawyers for that, not you and not me.

Like Shelby, they ALL protect what's theirs. Just saying that he wasn't a saint any more than Shelby and the rest.

Appleseed said that he didn't think that Meyers sued anyone, well he did indeed.

Just 'cause his cars were cute, doesn't rub off on him; doesn't mean that he was any less vicious in protecting what was his, I have people that protect what's mine as well.

Everyone, not anyone.

I'm sure Shelby DID sue everyone, though.

Sorry for the misquote, Appleseed.

I very much suspect that you're correct about Shelby!
