In reply to Pete Gossett :
Steve McQueen knew who had it because he approached the guy twice to buy it. The fellow bought it from an R&T classified ad for somewhere in the $6k range. His wife drove it until 1980 when it got parked.
The second car was found in Mexico and was pretty much destroyed.

Ah, ok. This is the one that was all over the news about a year ago, after the family finally decided to go public that they’d owned it all these years.

Eventually someone super cool will let us know how cool they are by posting “what’s Bullitt? I never even heard of it until this thread. Movies are dumb.”

Bullit? Isn’t that bourbon? I’m not sure I don’t drink

Did I see that in another thread or is it a now deleted comment? I've actually never seen the movie but a clip or two. Only saw Red Dawn a few years ago. Never saw Top Gun. Even if I found the time I'm not sure I'll watch the Calvin and Hobbes or is it Shaw and Hobbes movie.
I will not miss the last what is it two or three Fast and Furious movies however.
I'm still with the guy on the Ray Evernham show on cable who admitted the greatness of the Corvette but lauded the small groups of guys all across the nation who built small run/one-off fiberglass cars that faded into true real genuine obscurity and are worth very little and that a Corvette should be great with all the money behind it.
I'm gonna get cable just for LSUs season as I always do so I guess I'm gonna have to look out for Bullitt now. I loved the Paul Newman/Robert Wagner movie with the 356 the only time I saw it as a kid - I swear I'll build a replica 356 some day just because of that movie.

Yes THAT one!! I think the results of the Monterey auction and the potential recession are not going to help its auction price.

That’s a great pic & all Adrian, but it would be 100x cooler if you were holding that damn hubcap in your hand...
