I'm sure we;ll discuss this at length here, but the MR2 caught fire at the Daytona TNiA this evening. I'm 100% fine. Here's a FB thread with the play by play. Gotta get some rest but I'll discuss it here tomorrow, too.

Glad You're okay. Sounds like a fun time at the hospital. Hey, there are two or three Mr2s on the cars for sale forum. Just saying.
Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. A vehicle can be replaced, or not, up to you, thank God. So when ya hopping back on the horse?
Glad you are ok. Having had second degree burns on my balls and smoke damaged lungs, i feel your pain.
So, article on low budget/used fire suppression stuff for the masses? Guys like me that can't pony up for new, but can scrounge up used cheap?
Fire is my number #1 when behind the wheel of a wheel prepared vehicle (with regards to safety equipment).
Get a respiratory therapist and do occupational therapy to get your lungs back healthy again. Here's to hoping that Toyota or Hyundai come out with something fun, modern and midengined soon, as have been rumored.
I have to admire the lengths that you're willing to go through when it comes to doing thorough research for an article! Glad to hear that you were able to escape without serious injury - burns are no joke.
Wow, I was literally just reading the article about fender rolling the MR2 before I got on the computer. Glad you're safe!
Somebody call 9-1-1
Shawty fire burning on the race track, whoa
I gotta cool her down
She gon' bring the roof to ground on the race track, whoa
She's fire burning, fire burning on the race track
Glad you are ok, J.G. And hope you can also find the root cause, to remind everyone to check that part, too.

This!
I am glad to hear that you are ok! Fire is not fun.
It's only one of those newbie TNIA events, right?
Thanks for taking safety seriously and practicing your bails.
pinchvalve (Forum Supporter) said:"9/10 would bail again" - Even in the ambulance, you've still got it.
But are you prepared to bail from that ambulance if necessary?
Oof. Well maybe you can take the Six Million Dollar Man approach the MR2.
Better than it was before... Better, Stronger, Faster
Maybe with a different chassis?
Glad you're ok.
yikes. glad you are ok. I've had a lot of bad crap happen while driving. So far fire isn't one of them.
First off, glad you're OK, JG. Secondly, this is an aspect of older cars that some folks don't think about. All those fuel lines that are possibly corroded, dry-rotted, etc, and you can't see, especially in a mid-engine car like an MR2. They can be a time bomb. Of course, I'm engaging in completely baseless speculation here, but I have my suspicions....
