If there is a thread for this already I apologize but my search is currently not working and I'm looking for some advice. I'm currently looking for a new car as my 735i has recently kicked the bucket. Although I would love another '80s BMW there are some decent looking miatas around my area for about $4k. What to look for in these beasts? $3000 is about my budget but I may be able to swing $4000 if its the right car, any major buying tips?
Thanks

I found this page useful when I got my NA, http://www.miata.net/garage/garagebuying.html
From my own recent experience: Needs new top/rust repair (if you aren't doing it yourself) MAY make a "bargain" Miata more expensive than a clean example in the long run. When its all said and done, I'm going to have "clean Miata" money into a bargain car. It still worked out OK for me b/c it has really low miles and a clean (one might even say "nice") interior (M Edition). Just be aware those are big ticket labor items to have someone else do them for you.

You should probably just buy Woody's.
