Looks like good to me.
7 speed manual? What? The damn thing probably has north of 350 ft/lbs of torque over a 4000rpm range, what the hell does it need with 7 gears?

To get 35 mpg?
meh. Looks like a mutated camaro. Makes me hate the new viper a little less. Even though the viper has grown on me.
Well. I've always liked Corvettes, although I've never been wild about the styling of the C6 (engineering, yes, but styling, no), but this car makes the C6 look pretty good. I don't hate it, but I don't like it,either - too many bits and pieces of other designs, which surprize me: Mk. II Mr2 front intake, 240Z rear quarter windows, new Camaro butt (which I don't like on the Camaro, either), and AMC Marlin rear backlight. All in all, its details are too extreme and exaggerated for me, and I don't think it will age well. It will probably grow on me some, and may look better in person, but I still like the styling of the C5 coupe the best of all, and I prefer my '94 C4's styling to the new one. I'm a simplicity guy - give me the C5, the NSX, or a 911 as far as looks go.
Wouldn't mind driving one, though...
The outside looks a bit over-farkled, but I still really like it. I love the driver-oriented "cockpit" layout.

"moar gearz" is a marketing thing these days..
maybe they were just trying to get back to how many "gears" the early C4 Vettes with the "4+3" manual trans had..
Styling is subjective. (For the record, I like nearly all of it but the taillights).
The new LT1 is already discussed and awesome.
Aluminum Z06 frame in every car = WIN.
Here's my BIG berking beef though. It's a porker. Even with every Vette now getting the aluminum frame and the significantly increased used of carbon fiber (and foam in the floorboards, etc, etc), it weighs more than the outgoing C6 with the steel frame.
On that note, the C7 is a dud for me. (Not that I can afford a new one and my house, too, at this point, but buying a Vette new has always been on my bucket list).

Where are you seeing that? The Autoweek article on the last page listed an (estimated) 3,200 pound weight, vs. 3,208 for the 2013 model.

The new Corvette Stingray will rocket from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds -- and deliver up to 30 mpg on the highway. -- Every Corvette Stingray gets an aluminum space frame that weights 100 pounds less than the steel frame used on the 2013 base Corvette. The wheelbase is an inch longer and the overall length is just 0.2-inch longer than a Porsche 911. The front and rear tracks are nearly 1 inch wider. Weight distribution is an ideal 50/50. All this helps the Corvette Stingray pull 1.0 g on the track -- with smaller tires than the current car--and cuts down the turning radius by nearly 2 feet. This is all the stuff they left out of the Reveal. You guys need to read the C&D article too. It's chock full of the technical side of things. It talks about why it's got smaller tires and a lot of under the hood info. It's what got me so hyped up about the new model and why I was so disappointed. The looks weren't as special &/or as different from the outgoing model as the drawings they had and others I've seen on the web.
It looked as if GM was beginning to take this in another direction.
I don't know where someone got that it weighs more than last year's model because everything I've read says it weighs 100+/- less than a comparable model from the outgoing model.
I like the Camaro lights - I think.
I like the quarter panel windows too. I'm getting tired of the huge blind spots that these high waist line designs give you.
I definitely like the interior, but notice how wide the area is between the seats? We'll have to see if the quality follows. Since the Vette has gotten creamed so much by people worldwide and since so much of the lead in talked about interior and interior design you'd think they finally took some of this to heart, but then again it could just be a preemptive strike by the PR dept.
sorry.. still do not care for the tails. I think they would have looked ok squared off some.. but not a clone of the ugly camaro lights... I also do not like the intergrated lip spoiler. Maybe on the track version, but I am sure they had room under that huge tail to stuff a movable and adaptable spoiler.
I can only hope that an outcry over the tails forces GM to rethink them before production starts..
otherwise.. bravo
Sorry guys, I don't think the taillights look like the Camaro's. Yes they are squared off like the Camaro, but they have a more aggressive look to them. I could get used to the rear end.
If this help drive down the cost of a C5...
On a second look, the rear glass/c pillar reminds me of the crossfire, without looking like a dog taking a E36 M3.
They actually aren't Camaro tail lights. They are indirectly lit hexagonal lights.
They were trying to attract a younger buyer. Ones who've grown up on video games full of cars with outlandish designs. They are trying to broaden their base from the overly tan, gold chain wearing, trophy wife sportin', white haired gentlemen.
Their factory is only running at about half capacity and if they want to be able to keep it open they have to find some way to up production.
Didn't see it mentioned, but we had Steven Cole Smith there to get the story for the next issue of GRM.
Just saw the pics. Still looks good and the styling is still very American, the taillights don't bother me as much as the exhausts (I think they should have gone with 2 wide outlets or something...4 identical outlets in a row almost looks ricey somehow). This is also the first Corvette in a while where the interior doesn't look like a cost-saving afterthought, it looks good, like a modernized Gen4 Supra interior.
I think my favorite looks-wise is still the C6 though. I don't know if this one's bigger but it looks bigger, and the styling's a bit too busy.
Since we're all showing our belly buttons, I think it's okay. Not great. The C5 reserved look has been my favorite modern Corvette. The C7 to me looks worse than most C4s (I see I don't have to mention wanting his C4 again to see a pic again). A bit too busy. Oh well, it's not as if I have any money to go along with that opinion. Maybe I'll buy a wrecked one and enter it in the $2045 challenge.
Late to the party, but echoing many others. I love the front, I love the sides, I love the interior, but for the love of (insert mythical deity of choice here) change the arse end please! I’ve been a long time Corvette fan and been close to purchasing one in the past. I like all the iterations in many ways, but that derriere is hideous. I’ll be the mid cycle re-fresh is already on fast forward with a new butt coming after the 2nd model year at the latest.

USA Today quoted the Corvette chief engineer, Tadge Juechter, as saying "the weight of the base car will be slightly up" despite the fact that it has the Z06 aluminum frame, among other weight-shedding material changes.

When they changed the model and gave it the big butt is coincidentally (?) when sales volume dropped. A connection- you bet!
