I have seen things about the weakness of the transmission of the Saab C900. Is there anyway to fix it or a stronger transmission that could be used?

I doubt it would be easy to use a stronger transmission. If you look at the engine/transmission on a C900, the transmission is -under- the engine. The engine sits backwards in the chassis (with the drivebelts facing the passengers and the flywheel towards the front of the car) and a chain is used to transmit power down to the underslung transmission.
The transmission is also the oilpan for the engine. The fluids do not mix, but the gear set is offset to the driver's side and the passengerside is the sump for the engine.
The problem, according to the guy who rebuilt mine, is that rough shifting breaks off teeth and they make their way back to the differential, which eventually grenades it. Shift smoothly and do not smoke it from a standing stop and it should last a while. Use the best gear oils, change them regularly, and definatly fit a magnetic drain to catch any and all loose bits.

There are lots of heated arguments on the Saab forums about using various motor oil blends vs gear oil. Tough question to answer.
I have heard that 'chillcast' transmissions are more durable and also that using a steel diff cover can prevent the case from flexing, which is apparently an issue.
