So I bought a CPO Audi A6 recently on partial impulse and it happens to have the 2.0t TFSI 4 Cylinder. I heard these were pretty reliable and the one I have only has 20k miles with OCIs performed every 5k miles and the plugs were changed at the 3rd year mark (~17k Miles). This is the non-mild hybrid engine so I'm wondering if there's anything else to look for if I end up keeping it long term.
FCP Euro and Deutch Auto Parts(DAP) and Humble Mechanic do a bunch of videos on VAG stuff and I know they did some videos on each generation of the 2.0 with the know issues as well as the vehicle models.
I daily a Mk7 Gti(2017) with 51k and no issues besides maintenance. Plugs, filters and oil have been it on the motor and it's easy to work on.

Most of my experience with newer VAG stuff is with the transverse engines, but the gen3 EA888 is great. My daily's a mk7 Alltrack and I couldn't be happier with it.
I'd recommend looking into a scan tool or software like VCDS or OBDeleven in addition to watching the YouTube channels mentioned above.
So right now I'm mostly having trouble finding info because apparently this is the Gen 4 EA888. Should I just assume the issues of the Gen 3/4 are the same?

Essentially? I know there were minor revisions to the PCV between the mk7 and mk8, but there might be other changes for the transverse engines.
I have a 2015 GTI. Been dead reliable- except the plastic water pump, which is now a settlement/recall item. I blasted the intake valves while I was in there for the water pump.
Love to hear this. Guess I found a gem.
What year is the car?
Keep up with the 5k oil changes, it will help the car alot. (Manual says 10k). If doing it yourself, be very careful about which drain plug you pull. Can't tell you how many cars I have had come into the shop because some quick lube person drained the trans then 'filled' the motor. Now you have an empty trans and 10 qts of oil in the motor....
Speaking of transmissions, they need to be serviced at 40k miles. Don't skimp, do it with OE fluid.

2020 C8 Audi A6. Gen 4 EA888 apparently, made in Hungary! I plan on continuing the 5k OCIs and the trans service at 40k. Has the aftermarket come up with a better solution for the water pump/thermostat or no?
I used an fcp euro water pump- guaranteed for "life". I think the settlement/recall will take care of replacement at a dealer but not 100% sure. Fcp has a good video on replacement if you need/want to diy.
Also- regarding transmission service, we are talking the auto right? I have the fluid, but haven't changed it in my manual yet. 95k.
Just found out my A6 is covered under the 8 year/80000 mile recall settlement. Cool!
