...and with a proper manual trans.
Yeah yeah... ring times don't matter, but this thing is nuts.

Faster than the ZR1 Vette is not kidding around.
The Derek Bell 956 in-car was always my favorite, until maybe now.

That guy wasn't holding back. I think I saw him upshift at 167mph. That is absurdly awesome performance per dollar.
Damn that thing is a beast
It looked pretty composed for as hard as he was hustling it.

He was one-handing it at 170mph.
I never watch these things all the way through...but I did for that

Interesting that they didn't use the 10-speed that they've hyped so hard. But then again, the 10-speed ZL-1 was 1 second slower per lap around Streets Of Willow with Randy Pobst driving.

Porsche could maybe takes some notes from Chevrolet on how they handle the forced performance gap between the Cayman and 911.
Also, TEAM AMERICA BERK YEAH.
173 mph/ 6th gear to 54 mph/ 2nd gear in ten seconds.
Ain't yur regular Crammit
Are the front dive planes/bookshelves/winglets stock? That's pretty freaking awesome if so!

My work has a '17 Camaro RS in metallic blue with black stripes and the 2.0T with the 8-speed auto. I really want to go play with it. And for $31K, the price is pretty reasonable.
Someones getting fired...they broke the 1st cardinal rule of Chevy: "Thou shalt not berk with Corvette".
Now that we got that out of the way, holy hell that was incredible. That seemed entirely too composed for a stock vehicle. Hellcat what? Shelby who?
I was going "oh crap oh crap oh crap" when he was calm as a cucumber. More moving around than I would have thought.

That rule has been gone for a while now.
That is FREAKING moving, but the ring is faster now with the better paving and tires have made a serious jump on production cars in the last two years or so. Manufacturers are putting tires that last 2-3K miles in the real world on stuff going out the door and a ton of the gained speed is thee.

yup! The aero is part of the factory 1LE package.
GM writeup on 1LE package for ZL1 here: http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2017/may/0517-camaro-zl1.html
excerpt:
GM said:
Additional ZL1 1LE highlights include:
Downforce-producing aero: Unique features include a carbon fiber rear wing, specific air deflectors and dive planes on the front fascia that produce grip-generating downforce to help the car stick harder and drive faster in turns.
Adjustable suspension: Racing-derived, lightweight Multimatic DSSV® (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) dampers front and rear offer exceptional wheel and vehicle control. The front-end ride height is adjustable, along with the caster geometry. The rear stabilizer bar also offers three-way adjustability.
Wheels and tires: New, specific lightweight forged aluminum wheels are an inch wider but an inch smaller in diameter, front and rear, than standard ZL1 wheels and are used with new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires that deliver max lateral grip of 1.10g. The overall footprint grows approximately 10 percent over the ZL1, but the wheel-and-tire package weighs about 3.3 pounds (1.5 kg) less per corner.
Lighter weight: The lighter wheels and dampers, along with thinner rear glass and a fixed-back rear seat, contribute to an approximately 60-pound (27 kg) lower curb weight than a standard ZL1 Coupe.
Supercharged performance and more: The power behind the ZL1 1LE is the 650-horsepower, supercharged LT4 engine backed by a six-speed manual transmission featuring Active Rev Match. Brembo brakes are also included, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose premium audio system, heated/ventilated front seats and heated steering wheel.
Apparently the Viper boys are heading back to the Ring.

Private group doing it not Dodge. They were going to Viper owners to fund the trip. Personally after being in a few Gen V's at the track and the Ring being in better shape then normal I think they can break sub 6:55 in that car if the aero can be tuned correctly. The OEM tires are monster sticky on the ACR.
If they break sub 7:00 I can only imagine the E36 M3 storm that will happen online as people call it fake.
So, does this mean we'll get an even faster Corvette next?
Who was in the saddle?? still have chill bumps on my arms after watchin' that, effen frekin awesome!!!!!....Caddy needs to shed 500+ LB'S and go back with Sabina S at the helm

Article said GM engineer Bill Wise. Never heard that name before but definitely a hot shoe by the video.
In reply to fasted58:
