Hey Guys,
So the RX7 saga continues, my non-registered, barely working FC is in Boston. I am in Queens NY. I’m thinking about doing this swap myself. But the problem now is getting the car up here. I have no truck or trailer to bring the car down. What are my options? Car transport company? Anyone want to make a couple of bucks and help a GRM brother out?
I have a friend here local(GRM member as well) that may be willing to do the transport, but I would have to ask him.
Did you get ahold of Jamie at Fastrack?

Rent truck and trailer from any major truck rental/moving company?

Probably the easiest way. Fly up there on the shuttle or have a friend drive you and rent a Uhaul truck and trailer. I did that when I bought my RX7 in Indy and lived in NY.

I thought about doing the Uhaul Truck and Trailer, but I have to admit that it is a daunting task that I don't think I could do. I love challenges and all but it's one of those things where if I somehow mess up I could endanger the lives of other people on the road. And it's not something I'm comfortable with.
Chris, I did get in touch with Fastrack and they are still option. It's just the quote that I got was almost double what people normally pay. So that's why I'm looking to do it myself. At least this way I'll probably end up learning how to do a couple of things that I never knew before. Let me know if you're friend is interested.
Any other suggestions guys
Get in touch with Chris Semple from Force5Auto. He's in southern New Hampshire and runs a transport business.

I would highly recommend I, Cartius in Deerfield,N.H. Safe, secure, and more than reasonable. When I bought my 911 in N.H., I used him to deliver it home.
www.uship.com Had great luck with using it to transport my utility vehicle from PA to KY. Being flexible with dates makes it much easier to get a good price/match.

It's surprisingly easy...the car control skills I have learned from insane towing combinations in the past have definitely helped me improve as a driver; a U-Haul & dolly is peanuts. Try a Lincoln Town Car with 1/2" of slack in the hitch tow-barring a Subaru wagon with two spare engines in the hatch.

I guess a rope tow on I-95 would not be a good idea.

I emailed both the NH guys and also put it up on uship.com. Hopefully I get a good price :)
Fingers crossed. Thanks for the advice.
I've used these guys before:

They are in Oceanside, NY (Long Island). Excellent pricing and service. They deliver all over.
My concern would be towing something through Queens!
With a tow dolly your vehicle requirements open right up, something like a 4 cylinder truck could tow a dolly and RX7. See, now you don't even need a truck, just something with a hitch. Tow dollies are cheaper and easier to rent than a truck & trailer. Acquire (beg, borrow, steal or rent) a suitable vehicle and drive to Boston. Rent a dolly in Beantown for a one way trip to NYC.
Where in Queens? Hey, I heard yo got some snow today....

Is the car in Boston the car or a donor? If it's the donor couldn't you strip it of everything useful, chuck it into a truck or trailer and heat to NYC? Chuck the shell.
I was confused by "getting the car up here".

Queens was okay it was only a couple of inches. I work in the city and half the office didn't show up...
It's the actual car. I've posted on a couple of the other forums to see if anyone would be willing to do it for a fee. The money they are asking for is pretty close to what I'm getting from the pro guys so I don't know. The crappy thing about NYC is now has cars let alone pick up trucks.
Jamie is a pro. Probably reflected in the price but I can guaranty that you will get what you pay for.
Hay Chris feel like swapping a motor? LOL I had it down in my FC to 6 hours from the car rolling in to rolling out but I had no ac or power steering to mess with. We just need a place to do it. I am currently without indoor car working space
EDIT: We should drag James L out and make it an MARX7 gathering!!!! Hay what bout David up at wide-foot? The problem would be getting the car there. I could tow it with my truck. I just dont have a trailer in working order at the moment.
Just because I am interested how much are you wiling to pay for a swap? You can figure that it is at least 6-8 man hours of labor to do it as long as nothing goes wrong. Then there is the cost of all the hoses, belts, antifreeze oil, filter, Rad, clutch etc.
The absolute bare minimum I would figure is $100 in misc stuff and this would only really be fluids, cleaners and disposables.
Why are you changing the motor? If it is a side seal? If so you could try the old block weld trick. Nothing to loose and plenty to gain. That temporary fix has lasted years in many a RX.
I'm up for a swap Dean. I can do it in my 78 GS in a few hours by myself now. The Series 4/5 cars are a bit tougher with power steering, and such, but nothing major.
The issue we may have is that he is going from NA to Turbo which will require some extra wiring, and plumbing I reckon.
I am really disappointed that the MARX-7 club is no longer around,as I had good times with them over the years.
Seems like you might have to ship it. I know that American Auto Transport does this route for pretty cheap as I done this not too long ago
ayamen is now going into old, archived threads to post crap! Can't we have him banned?
