I re-weighed my RX-7 today, 2540Lbs with me and 3/4 tank. It's an 83 GSL (power windows, mirrors, moonroof, etc) with the A/C removed (correctly, including wiring, brackets, and controls), a lighter-ish exhaust, and no smog pump (smog exempt in my state).
I weigh 230 and the glass roof weighs 15 (I auto-x without the roof). Figure the spare, jack, oil, tools, and a little less gas (burns about 1/3 tank just getting to Portland) and it should be right at 2500 in "race" trim. Not bad!
Still have full interior, everything works, and I drive it nearly every day now that it's nice out.
I'm gonna go weigh the P71... BRB

My p71 was 4020 with two child seats, a class III reciever, a full tank of gas, and no driver & no spare tire. I've taken the reciever off since I got the Wagoneer.
Wonder what my SA weighs. I'm 170lbs. Car never had A/C, or power windows, mirrors, or even steering.

That's my 01 P71 with a full tank, my 230Lb fat butt, a full-size steelie spare, civvie interior, and a center console.
So when I race at 1/8th tank it's probably right at 4200Lbs. Though I do remove the spare, jack, tools, ATF/oil, and center console.
Wonder how much each steel wheel w/tire weighs?
Oh btw belt, my FB has manual steering. I imagine my car is close now to what yours is. It weighed 2650 all stock with me.
those wheels are heavy bastards. my 17x10's are noticeably lighter

I'll sneak the scale outside next week and weigh the spare...
My 73 Impala Station Wagon was 4877 with extra battery, 454 with iron intake, 26 gallons of gas, and my 240-lb ass in it.

That seems like a pretty high trap for that E.T.... traction issues?
And wouldn't that be an LS2? What can you bore/stroke an LS2 out to? Can you get another full liter out of it, and get yourself a half-way cheap not-really-LS7?

It's on 225/60/16 Toyo Proxes TPT's... So yeah, traction is an issue. I launch at idle, like pulling off from a light. If this thing a had a manual and rubber it would be sooooo much faster. The 95 does come in 2nd though (thank you Superchips).
I'd go with a 6.0 truck motor (iron block LSx) as it's still lighter then the 4.6. They go out to 6.2/6.3 easy but I'd leave the short block alone. Even a stock one would be an improvement for me.
Yeah, the newer Crown Vics weight a lot. The early Aero (92-93), and the early Box body (79-87) Crown Vics are the lightest. My 86 weighs 3760, that's with 1/2 tank of gas, no spare, full interior, manual windows, power locks, 600watt amp in trunk, upgraded to 50oz magnet front speakers and 70oz magnet rear speakers, no smog pump, but with the A/C still working great! The 79 302 Vic with base trim and minimal everything was curb weighted at 3590 lbs.
1993 Honda Civic Si = 2326lbs.
Aftermarket exhaust 10-20lbs lighter
Aftermarket intake 5-10lbs lighter
Aftermarket wheels 26lbs lighter
Front and rear strut bars 10lbs
Total 2295lbslbs
Following months getting a lightweight battery and aftermarket header. Should shave about 30lbs (battery) and 20lbs (header).
My van weighed north of 5000 lbs...
My superduty weights about 8000ish and both of my chevettes weight about half that
So if the sticker on your door says GVWR, is that how much it weights or what?
That is the weight including max load.

The only way a Chevette weighs 4,000Lbs is if there's a Mustang laying on top of it.

I think he meant a pair of Chevettes.
I'm surprised how much the RX7s weigh, I figured they'd be lighter than that in stock-ish trim. Where are you weighing your stuff at, DIY scales or truck stop/dump scales?

my 90 miata weighed in at (a relatively hefty) 2300 pounds with no top, and a 14lb battery (and my 190Lb Butt!)

An old GRM article posted on the capri club's web site states that my '77 capri should weigh 2491 lbs from the factory, 476 lbs more than the original kent powered '71 capri. I'm hoping to get down to 2200 lbs or so, since I've already removed the spare tire, back seat, air pump and braketry, and egr valve. Hopefully I'll find some nice chrome bumpers to replace the heavy plastic ones (or none at all )
The GSL RX-7s were 2500# from the factory. I figure I pulled about 100#s of A/C and smog junk off of it. 2400# is a SWAG. I have never had it on a scale. I could probably get another 50-100 or so if I did away with the power windows and other useless junk. And another 75 or so by going on a diet. Some things just aren't worth the work to remove.

You have to remember that's with my 230Lbs of lard in it and mine is a "loaded" later model (power windows/mirrors, rear wiper, sunroof, cruise, A/C, etc, etc). SA's (79-80) and base model / hardtop cars weigh less. I'm weighing in at the truck scale 2 miles up the freeway from my house. It may not be super accurate (20Lb increments and lots of use) but it is certainly ball-park and at least I can compare before-and-afters on the same scale.
So it's 2310 without me, and 2295 without me or the roof. I need to weigh the spare/jack as I take that out for racing as well. There's still a ton of weight I can get off of this car and I plan on it.
I think another thing a lot of people don't realize is just how heavy rotary engines are. The weight advantage comes from how short they are (thus giving good weight balance), not from them being light.
