...was helped a lot by a really good time at the autocross before the game.
My son and I drove the Miata, and with the FM rear bar set at full stiff (hey, everybody likes oversteer, right?), man was it something else.
I've got Yoko S drives on the car, and we just cooked the rear tires. We eventually borrowed another fellow's water bottle to try and cool them down, which helped on the first half of the course, but by the time I got to the back half, the back half was coming to me pretty easily.
This was the first autocross with the Miata since putting the FM bars on, and unfortunately might be my last autocross with the boy for quite a while as he heads off to the Air Force on Feb 9. I'm going to miss my son...
I'll have to do some "fly and drive" events where ever he gets stationed, so what's a good rental car to auto-x?
Last time I rented a car, I saw Mustangs and 370Zs begging to be tossed in rental-car anger
I've noticed a lot of rental agencies with Mazda 2's lately, also Focus SE's.

I'll try a Mazda 2 when the time comes, my Focus SE on standard "SE" struts I used to plow the back 40 with ( a LOT nicer on the factory handling pack struts, though).
For those that have the FM bar set on their Miotter, do y'all set the rear at "full soft"? I'm thinking that bad boy would still oversteer a fair piece even at the "mid" setting.
Depends on the car and depends on the front bar. Our recommended starting setup is middle rear, soft front IIRC. That's assuming a setup based on Mazda's original alignment setup and spring ratios. If you're running a different F:R spring bias, a front-biased camber setup or some other balance-changing setup you might prefer a different option.
A buddy of mine rented a Camaro vert to run CAM while his Mustang was under construction. Ended up placing 2nd against some well prepped competitors. Being a Ford guy he did it just to troll his fellow Mustang friends. Worked out well for him.
