Yes, I did do OLOA in 2003, but not in the challange car.
The 3rd gen Firebird/Camaro would be my first choice for a budget racer. A S-10 could be interesting as trucks run in a seperate class. Lastly a C4 Corvette might be possible for a very crafty person.
Since GRM is now a OLOA supporter, how about a special class for Challenge budget cars?
so, two things to note...
a "Special Class for Challenge Budget Cars" was being discussed this year by some competitors... but nothing's been floated up to GRM HQ or Brock
second, from a OneLap perspective, there's actually two DFL's:
1) The team absolutely at the bottom of the score sheet (usually the first person to mechanical)
2) The team that completes all the events with the lowest points total. (All Remaining Cars Trophy Winner)
I actually have experience with both scenarios. The second carries a certain amount of respect, the first... I'm not sure I can comment on "publicly".
I'll continue to contend that you'd probably want to budget the OneLap required tires separate from the "Challenge Budget" aspect (I'm not even sure if the 2018 OneLap tire program will be finalized in time to get tires branded and sent out in time for Challenge).
