M030 and I have started a gofundme to fund a challenge build for the at risk youth we work with. These are great kids that have had very hard lives (abuse, neglect, trauma etc.). The program teaches them strategies for building meaningful lives as well as employability skills. A low buck project car will really inspire them and show them that amazing, exciting experiences can also be positive and productive. We hope to build and campaign a car in both the challenge as well as lemons and/or chumpcar in addition to some local trackdays and drag. This will give these kids an opportunity that they would never have dreamt would be possible and will show them that truly special experiences are attainable with a little hard work and some careful planning/budgeting. This isn't some bull e36m3 charity that for a cup of coffee a day you can blah blah blah, this is a chance to have a tangible effect on people in our own country, in our own society. We can help build these kids into good, productive, positive memebers of our community and we can do it at the track. We talk about how we wish things were, well here's your chance!

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Huge thanks to everyone who's helping with this. Please share and help us make this happen. Stuff like this shows these kids that you can win through positivity, it's what our world needs.

I love this idea. I've thought this would be a great thing to do with some of the kids I work with. I'll be watching to see how it goes. Good luck!

What can you tell me about this picture?
Two 928's?
One e36
One MR-S
Cool collection.

Lol, we try pretty hard to have the kids work on cool stuff but most days it's not that glamorous, which is ok because they need to get used to rusty carollas, blazers, malibus, etc.

We've done some cool projects though, we did the manual swap and suspension work on my sportx, and we built up the e36 in the picture. We work on the guy in the picture's 928s now and then. Some of you guys will recognize swmbo's mr2 commute attack car from the build thread that is on here. We're trying hard to teach them that ff movies aren't car culture and street racing isn't racing.

We had a great first week! Thanks to everyone for their support and sharing! The kids are super excited and we've set up a dedicated "project car area" in the shop to work on the car. One of the kids has fabricated a rotisserie out of some old engine stands and we are getting ready to blow the car apart for media blasting. Please spread the word so we can make this happen!

I'm proud to be Working with Sesto-Carbon on this project. Imagine the head-and-shoulders advantage our students will have over other tech school graduates when it says "rotisserie-built twin turbo Porsche race car build" on their resumes, not to mention the more advanced hands-on skills they will have learned!
