I doubt this one is in the rules. I have "lightened" my car to the point that the pass door and rear panel don't form a seal to the body. They are basically cosmetic.
Does the drivers compartment need to be sealed or is this acceptable?
Thanks JM

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question.
I'll muddy the pot by throwing in a few questions of my own...stuff I would like to have clarified because it relates to the car I am building
Are the following (still) true for $2012:
1 - tube frame or locost-type cars are in the Specials class which is not eligible for most trophies/awards
2 - cars in the Specials class do not require headlights, brake light or windshields
3 - Convertible cars - even the heavy slow ones - must have roll bars (or cages) and arm restraints
sorry I was not more clear. I am building a specials class car, and have questions about it. I will edit my earlier post to make this more clear.
AutoXR: No reason a body panel has to form a "seal".
JoeyM: I don't think the 2012 rules have been posted yet, but those were correct for 2011

I just re-read the 2011 rules...I think I was wrong. If I am now reading it correctly, all cars - even specials - must have a functioning brake light, and open cars do not need bars or cages if they are running 14s or slower

I stand corrected. Posted before engaging brain.

Methinks he may be a bit busy for at least another 12 hours, and then will likely enjoy a rest.
Yep,
a) doors don't need to actually seal water out or anything, as long as the rest of the rules are complied with.
2) all cars must have a functioning brake light.
iii) open cars don't need bars or cages if they're running a 14.0 or slower.

Has the final version of the $2012 rules been posted?
