Does anybody know if there is an aftermarket axle available for the '13 Chevy Cruze 1.4 turbo cars?

I have a customer with one of the recalled cars. The dealer is telling him GM can't give an ETA for the warranty replacement piece(s). Since I've been able to hunt stuff down for his collector cars he hoped I could find something for the Cruze. I'm coming up empty, but figured if they exist, a GRMer would know.

I don't know, but did you check with Raxles?

In reply to bravenrace: Not yet, but I'll give 'em a call now.

Edit: Raxles doesn't offer anything.

In reply to Javelin: Thanks!

Might want to call a salvage yard, this will be quicker than waiting for GM. I have a customers car that has been sitting at work for seven weeks, still no ETA.

Any reason the owner will not take a rental car?

Don't know if the Cruze owner took the rental or not. He has another car to drive. His axle didn't fail, but he doesn't want to be driving it and have it fail after getting the "you shouldn't drive your car" letter from GM. I think he was hoping there would be something like a Moser or Strange axle upgrade for the car.

Try Car-part.com

Edit: I see that wouldn't solve your problem

Yea, the mighty 1.4L Turbo is too much for the OE axles.

Where and how does the OEM axle fail? Maybe they can be processed to be more robust (cryo, shot peen, better heat treat, mitigate stress risers, etc.) Or perhaps just a HD version of the particular piece that fails. With 7+ month backlog, there's some time to explore.

None of our suppliers make them yet.

Yea that's what I was finding too. Thanks for checking. Maybe I should go pull the ones out of his car and start calling some axle guys...

Not all shafts have to be replaced, they need to be inspected for a certain paint mark and or grove.
