Does chocolate go with pickle juice? Probably not, but that hasn't stopped me from considering it, especially after a few libations. And the same goes for some of the ideas I have involving cars. To wit: I've long wanted to take a Lincoln Mark V and chuck the woeful engine/transmission in favor of the drivetrain from a Mercedes-Benz S600. Years ago I remember reading in a magazine about GM shoehorning a BMW V12 into a late 80s Caprice. That stuck with me. Yeah, it's not the easy button, but a V12 Qship Lincoln sounds delicious.

What say you guys? What's your weird automotive ideas?

I wanted to see a diesel miata, I've seen it and it's wonderful. A Subaru or raptor with trax? Again been done but awesome.

Which reminds me: I'd love to hop up a 327 Packard I8 and track it. In a Packard, of course.

Honestly, I just want to V12 all the things.

When I was at the Legends of the Autobahn show out in Monterey, I saw a Mercedes 300SLD. The owner had swapped an OM617 I5 into a roadster. I don't quite get the open top diesel idea, but I support it nevertheless.

No, he's kind of got a point, but I'd want to start with the whatever the heck the name is Toyota V12 from a Century.  The V12 that replaced the mini-Hemi in the 1990s.  It looks small-ish and light-ish and BMW V12s are simply too common.  Might be based on some other inline six like the 1G engine.  (Toyota made a lot of different inline sixes!)

240Z.  Or at least a 280ZX, but it has to be a short car, not the 2+2.

Amen. How wild would it be to run cylinder deactivation on the v12, so it sounds like a six cylinder for normal driving, then you pull up to the light, flip a switch, and unleash 12 cylinders of Japanese hell?

I can confirm that a dill pickle dipped in a chocolate fondue fountain is tasty...

Also, if I had unlimited funds I would totally find a way to fit a V12 in the Custom Cruiser as the basis for building the ultimate smooth road trip car.

I loathe the GM Atlas inline engines. Maybe a Barra, but they're kind of hassle to own in the US.

How far back did you have to move the firewall to make THAT fit?

I have seen RB20s in 1st-gens with no firewall hackery but I don't think there was much room for a radiator.

ACVW drivetrain nestled inside a Miata rear end, fuel tank up front.

Mercedes 300SLCTD: (SLC)C107, add (T)hatchback, add (D)OM606.

And I have been dreaming of a K24 or BEW TDI swap in my 318ti but that's a little too farfetched.
