Anybody know about any coil-over shock set-ups to replace the rubber cones on a '61 Mini? I know there are coil springs but thought that coil-overs would allow for more adjustment and be easier to install. Thoughts?

Yes, Spax has a coil-over kit for the mini. I'm not sure if it's a straight bolt-on though. The limiting factor is likely the shallow recess in the sheetmetal in the rear for the standard shock set-up.
Don't get me wrong. I don't have a mini, but have lusted on the sidelines for about 20 years. When I was in high school, my mom made an ultimatum after I'd found a genuine 67 Cooper S Mk2 with webasto sunroof in fresh restored condition for $10k: Sell your Midget (and it's parts car) and I'll finance the Mini for you. Toughest call ever, but decided to keep the $300 Midget and forgo the payment to my mom. I still don't know if it was the right choice.
Spax and one other company make them. The rears have the pin offset in the back to make them fit better. Or you can cut up the wheel well to make a standard one fit better.

The previous owner had them installed, and the receipt doesn't specify which kit. (I did check it for you.) I want to say that the coils themselves are blue, and I know that the Mini Mania kits use different colored springs for the different rates. I'll check when I grab the car later today.
