Coming down to the wire.

The race to get the metro ready for the event is heating up and I'm running out of time. We leave June 8th at 2pm. I have four days before I leave for vacation and a ton of stuff to do at home prior to leaving. We will not be back from vacation until the day before the event. 

The good news is I finally got it running. The bad news is it still acts like it's not getting enough fuel. I can't get it to go over 35mph. The really bad news is so far I'm the only one who has worked on the thing. The other driver keeps saying he's going to do stuff but he's yet to do anything except spraying one wheel white. I've mounted four new tires replaced the timing belt, water pump, radiator and hoses, replaced all brake hoses and dropped the tank cleaned it and the lines, tested fuel pressure at the pump and TB. Plus a bunch of other stuff. I'm a little burned out on the whole thing especially because I can't get the stupid thing to run right. 

I'm about to say screw it and just worry about home stuff and if they don't touch it while I'm gone I guess we won't be going.

Find a new driver.

I'm not even supposed to be involved. Was supposed to be my boss and his brother. Somehow I've been roped into doing it all.

I don't know, it revs free with no load. Usually.

It's got two map sensors mounted on the fire wall, someone has hacked the sensor wires. I've tried both of them but no change. It's building a ton of vacuum in the fuel tank, I ran it without the cap and it didn't backfire nearly as much but still wouldn't pull second gear. I guess it's been way too long since I've been a mechanic. 

Vacuum in the tank.... is it a returnless fuel system or a return type? Maybe something is plugged or there's a vent clogged up somewhere

I just texted them I've done all I can do with it. If they want this thing to go they've got a couple weeks to get it ready but I'm done. It's too hot and I've got too much other stuff to do. I don't even like working on cars anymore.

So...no more thrash before SEMA?
