As I previously stated and in my opinion, cars with more than two seats that only have two doors have a design flaw. This is especially true now that modern design language has managed to make the lines of coupes and sedans pretty much identical. Function over form might not be exciting, but function and form is pretty dang cool.

I completely disagree, and cite musclecars and cars like the classic BMW 3.0CS, 6 series, and 8 series as examples. Hell, we could add classic Mini Coopers and cars like my old Mazda RX3 to that list. Or the mid '70s Jaguar XJ6C/XJ12C and '80s Mercedes 560 SEC as well.

Showing your age here, lol. This is very 1980s thinking.

Amongst almost anyone young the Charger SRT8 or Hellcat, STI, and Evo and cars like that are "cool". People of that age determine what's cool otherwise Quiet Riot and the Scorpions would be popular still.

I wouldn't call the SHO, Galant VR4, Spirit RT, etc. or other sleepers cool. I think they are cool, but I wouldn't call them cool. I think they are cool because they look so ordinary, but offer extraordinary performance. But if you have to explain to someone why a car is cool, it's probably not cool. So stop trying to make my favorite cars cool, because then they wouldn't be cool anymore.

I disagree with that, as well. That's a very '50s-70s mindset, when coupes were cool and 4 door sedans were mom and dad's car.

But then I look at cars like my old Falcon:

Which was hella cool even in the '90s, and my current DD:

And I realize that there are a lot of cool 4 doors out there.

Are we talking four doors exclusively or do wagons count in a squares-are-also-rectangles kind of way?

I'm asking for a friend.

Wagons are 4 doors...with a bonus door on the back. That makes them cooler than regular 4 doors.

Wagons are not 4 doors.

Never.

Ever.

Don't do that.

Leave the wagons out of this.

I've only seen one cool car in this entire thread, and it is in the picture above. Although doctor boost will disagree with me on that because it has a bed. But he is entitled to be wrong just as much as the rest of you

See, this is why these questions need to be asked.

So RS2s and 850 T5s can't count because they are wagons.

In reverse order, the 4-door Maverick was an interesting study in gaming the rules since 4 door vehicles (or maybe it was just the long wheelbase) got a significant weight break. That is cool.

The Sierra kinda sucked and Ford went to the Sapphire when they wanted to get serious. The saw the writing on the wall with respect to 2wd at international levels.

The Delta Stradale (image labeled wrong, that's a Stradale not an S4) was a slapped-together homologation special that wasn't very fast or well done, and existed only to make the S4 legal to rally. The Intrgrale was faster on the stages within a few years anyway... handling beats power.

The M6 is neat but it always reminded me of some gray haired old woman pretending to be younger. Like Cruella de Ville in yoga pants. It just doesn't work. (I think it funny that you posted a pic of one that was ruined with huge wheels. Frickin' stancebros trashing nice cars...)

And 2 door GCs look like utter garbage

All of those cars are vintage, and the styling was different back then. Having been a long term back seat passenger in many of the "cool" two door cars ('68 SS Camaro, SS Monte Carlo, Olds Cutlass, among others) I was always aggravated that they weren't four door cars.

Two door cars with back seats say "Four door cars are for losers and old people. Screw the kids, I want to be cool, not grown up." That's inherently not cool. It's desperate.

Everything you have written may be true. But look at them, they all look so much better.

Brett_Murphy said: Two door cars with back seats say "Four door cars are for losers and old people. Screw the kids, I want to be cool, not grown up." That's inherently not cool. It's desperate.

I completely disagree. It's really not hard at all for a kid to get in and out of the back seat of a two door car. Plus no one ever rides with me anywhere and I never have anything with me besides myself. That's part of the reason why when I lost my company vehicle it wasn't a hard choice for me to go motorcycle only. I just don't need any more room than is afforded on a bike. I'd really like a single seater for my next car. I may just have to build one.

But I agree that anything with four doors is an old mans car. They just look so stupid. I could give a flying berkeley if anyone else thinks I look desperate. Sedans suck. Wagons rule, and are the only time more than two doors are appropriate.
