I've noticed some interest in Corvairs here. There were three of them (plus some nice street versions) at the PVGP at BeaveRun a few weeks ago. (see below)
For all my photos and in-car videos from the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (both weekend.....BeaveRun and then Schenley Park) Click Here.
And you can see one of the Corvairs get away from me pretty fast in This In-car Video
And later, in the same video, I ended up having a pretty good dice with a Corvair-powered Devin (there were TWO of them there!)

One of my all-time favourite cars . . . the proportions are just so right. I think I know where the inspiration for BMW CSs came from
I like corvairs. ALOT. alot alot.
Great pics of nice, old machines. Thanks for sharing.
Corvairs hit their collectabilty state about 5 years ago with people who didn't really know much about them. They are definitely one of Chevy's bastard children and most hardcore Chevy guys write them off as never being a real American car even though they are one of the best American automotive creations of the 1950's and 60's.
I love Corvairs and I'm glad my dad has always been into them.
Dante's Down the Hatch is one of the coolest restaurants in existence. Seriously...they have an Alligator...
The table smack dab in the middle of the picture is where Amanda and I spent our 7 year anniversary. Now I have to come up with something cooler for our 8 year at the end of the month...
In reply to Maroon92:
thats a pretty cool looking restaurant, looks like a ton of fun

Dante's sponsors all of those Corvairs. Check the windshield banners.
Another shot of two of the Corvairs. Plus here's the two Devins. And another nice car that was there.

You're right about the "hardcore Chevy guys". Corvairs are still my favorite American car..the muscle car crowd says it's because I'm an import guy. Seems like every generation of import fans has a token American car that just fits right in. I remember in the 80s, we'd let the Dodge Charger & Daytona guys hang out with us because those cars were really more suited to "our" crowd. The SVO Mustangs, too. And in the 90s, there was the Neon. I guess nowdays, it's the Focus.
My aunt had a 64 Vair when I was about 7 or so. She sold it because of Nadar's book.

Honestly, I consider myself a Hardcore Chevy Guy.
Why?
Because I LIKE the Corvair.
I think you need to like the oddball stuff too to consider yourself "Hardcore".

Here's a V-8 Corvair I saw at the Chatterbox a few weeks ago.

That Blue & White Corvair is Dave Edsinger. We split second place on points and tie breakers last season (2010) in the WDCR-SCCA Solo series C/Prepared class, just getting edged out by the series winner at the last event by 3-5 points. I was diving this:
So you know Dave and his Corvair are fairly quick...

Interesting- Atlanta CL has 13 Corvairs listed. From survivors to front engine V-8s.
