In racing, are there minimum weights? With that little power, I'm sure that a little guy would have a distinct advantage over a fatty like me.

A V-twin was my first thought to make them sound more the part too...But as far as I can tell, that pretty much relegates you to racing alone in your own back yard.
Would any sanctioning body ever let you autocross one of these. You might be racing against yourself but the idea of a sub $2K car to beat on over the weekend vs your daily sounds like a blast.
Or make it a bit larger, two passenger, street legal, and a motorcycle engine.
Just read about this place in Evo magazine: http://gunnandco.co.uk They're selling reprints of vintage books on building cyclecars.

A Tl1000r powertrain would sound perfect and can be had cheap.
And it'd allow you to do 170 in one lol.
My current idea is just to find an old go kart, stretch it, add larger wheels, and a 1920s body. I'm even considering one of the old cars with two seats so that I can take on of my kids for a ride.
The June issue has a write up on page 30, thanks Mr. Higginbotham and Mr. Wallens for the interest and helping us spread the 'word' about our CycleKart hobby.
We will be racing these little beasties on June 10th at a Flat Track event being held at the Queen Creek Equestrian Center in Arizona.
The Tieton Grand Prix is scheduled for the weekend of June 24th in Tieton, WA.
If you are in the area, stop by and see what it is all about.
