, pick up a SBC from his neighbor for 200 and you'll be good to go!
No no no, KISS remember.
I wont mention I have access to a 351W here though.
I'm given to understand that the reason people put SBCs and LS motors into 924/944 cars instead of SBFs is the hoodline. The front-mounted distributor on the SBF is too high. Now, if you went to a distibutorless system like the later Explorer 5.0s, that might help.....
Joking aside, I have no interest in a V8 944 even if I had the time and money. This car interests me as I have a perverse like of small and light underdogs. I keep looking at 1.6 L Miata’s rather than 1.8L. I keep looking out for M42 E30’s rather than M20. It’s a sickness, but small light and chuckable appeals to me. I’m going off this car as the weight looks surprisingly portly. Excellence lists it as 2,626lb’s which even with a 77.5 MY boasting a whopping 115hp that’s 22.8lb’s/hp making a 1.6L Miata look blazingly fast at 18.3lb’s/hp

Well, it was the late 70s, after all. Pretty much the nadir of automotive performance.
