Saw a VehiCross the other day on the road (!) and got me thinking how much they look like the new Jeep Cherokee. I've always loved the Isuzu PUV (Performance Utility Vehicle) and the new Jeeps are pretty slick too! Just got me thinking if the Vehicross was out now, if we'd see more of them on and off road with the likes of some crazy styling we see now?

I loved that Vehicross if just for the stance/proportions alone. But I'm the guy who loves Amigo soft tops so there's that...
I just watched some Dakar racing and thought the Vehicross resembled some of those full-race "SUV" cars they race out there.
The new Cherokee made a totally different impression on me in person than it had in pics. I think it's a very interesting looking vehicle in person. I think it works a little better than the Nissan Juke which has a similarly 'confusing' front light arrangement when you first see it.
Im also a vehicross fan, of a sort. I've considered buying one enough to check out the only one ive seen that fell into my price range.

The exterior of the Vehicross has really aged well IMO. Aside from a few details like the headlight tech., door handles, and wheels, it could be released today and look current. The interior is another story...
My daughter in law has a new Jeep Cherokee and aside from the slightly oddball looks it really is a nice vehicle. The looks do tend to grow on you after a while too.
I agree with Vigo. I do sorta like the new cherokee in person. Doesnt look any weirder than some of the wannabe crossovers.

Has anyone on here ever owned a VehiCross? I've come across what seems like a pretty good deal on one, but I don't know how they hod up or what the things are to look for.
Id say the main things to look for are body and interior condition because it's not likely to get any better after you buy it unless you actually want to spend a significant portion of the purchase price in addition to the purchase price fixing it up with rare parts that cost loads to ship.
Mechanically it's pretty plain jane Isuzu from what i remember.
The one i looked at, the major dealbreaker was that someone bedlinered the body cladding. That's a bitch to get off and you're not going to get replacement body cladding for less than several thousand dollars. It also had uncontrollable death wobble at 30mph and i never drove it beyond that, but the mechanical stuff didnt concern me NEARLY as much as the aesthetics which are much harder to fix when they are mostly made of low-production plastic pieces.
