Hey,
I have a 2008 Corolla with 140k miles. Bought it used at 100K miles.
The Sirius radio was working when I bought the car. Last week the Sirius radio crapped out and gave me an
888 number to call. The technician on the line was useless/poorly trained. He could not find any record of the service for this car.
Is there a hack for this type of problem? A better phone number to call?
Thanks in advance.

I've never had any issues with them and registering a new radio. You'll need the radio ID to give them and be in an area for it to see the signal. Maybe try creating an account and registering it online? Did you pay for Sirius XM when you bought it or were you using the account associated with it? If just using the account, my assumption is either the long term plan finally ended (you could buy 10 years up front for a while) or the original subscriber realized they were still paying for it and canceled it. Sounds like you'll need to sign up for a subscription when you get a SiriusXM rep on the phone who knows how to do that.

Yeah, their customer service reps are based in India. They just recite a script and are pretty useless. I use the chat function on the webpage when I have to deal with customer service. Like Rob said, it sounds like either the previous owner canceled the service or the subscription ran out. When you talk to them, you will need the radio ID. Also mention that you have a coupon. You can get the basic music tier for $5 a month which includes streaming though the SiriusXM app. I haven't paid full price on a subscription in like a decade.
when you say crapped out like it stopped working properly or the subscription ended?
