especially now that I put a whole new suspension under it. Bilstien shocks and Bearmach heavy duty stock height springs and new linkages to the swaybars.
Nice to have all nice and shiny hardware under the truck. I was actually surprised that it rides better. The old shocks were totally blown at 112,000 miles and the original springs were very sagged. Every bump was on the stops, now she rides a bit harder, but without the harshness of running out of suspension.
Just starting out.
Old and new swaybar links
Old and new springs
Old and new shocks and springs
All done
Tomorrow I get to do the fronts.
Got the front done today.
All jacked up and the wheels off:
Look ma, no suspension!
There is always that one bolt...
All done:
Sitting a little high now.
All told, I can feel every little bump now, but the harshness over the bigger ones is gone. No more hitting the bump stops! Also, the exhaust rattle is now gone, I would get a rattle in the rear going over bigger bumps, I am thinking it was the suspension just touching the exhaust at full compression. Now I just need to wait for the suspension to settle and take a set, if she stays this high, I might need bigger tyres
Very nice!!! Where did you get the parts from?
the shocks I got from Atlantic British, along with the swaybar links. And the springs came from Bearmach in the UK. They are the Heavy Duty, Stock height springs.
And here I thought that new trucks had gotten much taller, my rover had been shrinking with age.
Highly recommend Lucky 8 LLC in Buffalo, NY for any and all Rover related parts. They are very active in the Land Rover community and support all kinds of events. Tough to beat their prices and shipping too.
Also nice looking truck! What year? 4.0 o 4.6? Need some bigger tires haha
it's an 03 with the 4.6. My escapades with it's replacement are well known in these parts. 8 grand for the new top hatted engine and the mechanic that did the work got me for 4 grand to do the install over a 3 month period. There is more to the sordrid story, but other than it, my Disco has been a good truck and quite reliable since then

Ouch! I see you are also from NJ. Which shop so I know to avoid?
Bruce's Auto Repair in Northfield NJ. I am actually thinking the degree of deception goes further than 4 grand in "time" and 3 months to do the job. The last guy who did work to the truck as it needed injector work said that there was no way that it was a 20,000 mile engine going by how filthy it was inside. At the moment, I can either wait for it to die, or pay somebody to pull a head and check the liners to see if they are top hatted or not.
With the amount of deception they played, I would not be surprised if it was not top hatted. Well I'm just up the way near Mount Holly with two broken, rusted D1s in my driveway.
if so, that is theft. i bought and had delivered a tophatted engine from Atlantic British to bruce's, If he did not install it, he stole it from me
