Do shocks "wear"?

i see cars/vehicles that have worn out shocks all of the time.

I'd be game for the Tokiko option (I've used their illumina adjustables on my RX-7 with lots of luck) but right now it's looking like the KYB's "will do" for right now. (at $40 a pop, how could I pass them up).

I think I'm set on having the Bilsteins as a final option. Going this route will buy me time to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of the suspension and then select the properly valved Bilsteins.

I like Ultraclyde's idea of swapping out the shocks for use on street/auto-x. If the KYB's haven't kicked the bucket by the time I get the Bilsteins that may be an option.

With the cost of the KYB's so low it looks like a set of tubular A-arms may be in the budget for this trip to the states (fingers crossed).

Fair point Keith. Maybe I just got lucky the other way.

I should note that I thought the ZHP handled great on Koni Yellows, but it was crazy stiff. The Bilsteins seemed to have the same handling but a lot better ride, which was nice for a street car to me.

The truth is that this car is a ton different (pun intended) than my Evo or ZHP, so who knows without riding on them. The Charger crowd seems to like them pretty well on those heavy beasts, as they come standard on the SRT and a lot of people upgrade that direction.

Good luck OP! The price on the KYBs would definitely put them in the mix for me.

I'm on my second set of Tokico DSpecs on the Mustang. They work well for the price but the first set only lasted 50k miles. I forgot to file the warranty on the first go round, I really wish they'd lasted a little longer. But I wasn't unhappy enough to buy something else. Being able to adjust the firmness for daily and track at that price point is pretty nice.
