Hey guys, perhaps you can help me get to the bottom of a problem I have with my wife's 2003 Neon STX. Her serpentine belt tensioner bearing failed while she was driving and it threw the belt for her power steering and her AC. I replaced the pulley (what a stupid design BTW) and put a new belt on. However, her AC compressor is no longer working. Her compressor clutch will not engage nor will her radiator fan turn on when she selects the AC setting. I don't know what happened because I didn't get near the compressor while replacing the pulley.

I am a decent wrench but AC stuff is beyond my experience. Any ideas as to a cause? Could throwing the belt have damaged the compressor?

Thanks guys

check the charge in the AC, pressure switch won't kick in compressor if the charge is low. I don't know Neons but that's pretty universal.

If it tossed the belt it might have damaged the AC clutch wiring - take a close look at the AC compressor

Thanks guys! Turns out it was a plug that was knocked loose but not all the way out. I didn't see it until I was underneath the car.
