My '99 Suzuki Swift sounds like one of the front brakes is dragging.  I can hear it until I apply the brakes then the sound stops instantly.  The car has about 65K miles and I had the brakes "checked" about 2K ago.  Is there anything for which I should be on the lookout?  Cheap/EZ solutions for the noise, assuming the brake pads are fine?

Double check wheel bearings?

It's likely a take the pads out, lube and reassemble job otherwise

Sounds like your low pad warning device is rubbing the rotor and making the noise you hear. Time to remove front wheels and check pad wear and condition.

I second Apexcarver's wheel bearing comment. The application of brake takes some of the thrust load off the bearing and quiets it down. Bearing may still have a lot of life yet too. Also look for rust ridge on the outer perifiry of the disc, that too can sometimes produce the noise, and often can be easily fixed by knocking (chipping) it off. Common if the car sits still a lot.
