Road Trip!
We bought a 1989 Porsche 944 S2 from fellow GRMer Danny Shields and now we are driving it from Florida to Washington State.
This morning we left the Buc-ee's in Daytona Beach, Florida to start the trip!
I'm riding right seat right now while Mrs. Javelin takes the first stint.

Hoping for an uneventful trip.
Which route are you taking? Keep in mind I-70 is closed through Glenwood Canyon and the detour is about 4 hours, and backed up with traffic.
We made it through Jacksonville and our first road change from I95 to I10.

We don't hit 70 until far west of the closure. That will be Thursday.
Enjoy the journey. Depending on how you are traveling I might have a few sight seeing and dining suggestions.
Wow, hope the trip goes well. I got to see Danny's 944 when I was at Sebring during a Gold Coast PCA autocross at Sebring when I saw a bunch of the Suncoast guys helping out at the teen driving school. I was shocked when he mentioned the mileage to me and how great it looked. Glad to see it going to a good home.
Hopefully you do not need anything , but Zims near Dallas is a good shop that has been there for decades
The S2 is a good looking car. And IIRC the steering feel was rated very highly by the magazines of the era. Very nice!

You guys use different maps than I do. I wouldn't be going anywhere near Glenwood Canyon or Alburquerque on this trip.
We made it through 10 to 75 and have made it to Georgia!
Florida was nice.
We'll have to find some peaches for lunch.

Javelin obviously makes some, let's say, unusual choices. I mean, we're talking about a guy who thinks it's a good idea to buy a 23 year old German car with 211k miles on it and drive it from Florida to Washington state. Why would we think that he'd chose his route based on traditional criteria?

I didn't realize that you bought Danny's 944. Glad it's going to a good home. Wish we got to hang, too, but things here are kinda messed up right now.

Some of them are bigger than others. They definitely have more than one size Buccees.
Did the route include the Tail of the Dragon? Or was that someone else's trip? If so what day?

First day was a total success. 2 fill ups, no issues, 625+ miles from Daytona Beach, FL to Deal's Gap, NC. Car is running pretty good, we survived okay. Looking forward to a good night's sleep and then slaying the Dragon tomorrow morning!

You did! My dad and I were giving a good once over and fixing some things. Changed the battery, oil and filter, spark plugs, and windshield wipers. Topped off all the fluids and adjusted the rear hatch.
