Driving gloves for autocross, what do you use?

I've got these awesome seven layer gloves. Sounds thick, but it's VERY breathable. It provides really good grip and great wear too. The two coolest features are that they were free, and when they get cut the will self heal!!!!

Not a fan of using gloves. The only time I use them is when I go to the local karting track when it's cold, otherwise my hands have to be pried from the wheel after a 15 minutes session.

Gloves provide much better grip than bare hands. It's been a while since I've autocrossed but I daily drive with my Alpine Star Tech 1-ZX's (got the pair on closeout sale for half off normal retail!) Been a phenominal glove that has held up well for 2 years so far. I use a very light grip (thumb up and off the wheel) at just below 9 and 3 and the gloved hand also really helps out when you have a metal ball shifter (no slipping from sweat or burning hand if car left in the sun.) If they made a similar kart racing version that would be the way to go for autocross (external seams are the best!) at a lower price.

I've used golfing gloves, batting gloves, handball gloves, and some good quality racing gloves (Shift! GTRs) before the Alpine Stars...and I will only buy Alpine Stars from now on. They have a perfect pre-formed fitting glove layout with external seams for extreme comfort. Plus they are more economical when you consider how many pairs of the cheap psuedo-driving gloves you will go through before the Alpine Stars even begin to wear out...thin leather sucks for durability, especially with sweaty hands. If the miata is the answer for cars... then the Alpinestar Tech 1-ZX is the answer for gloves...

It depends on the car. I have several old pairs of road racing gloves that probably wouldnt pass tech but are very comfortable. I dont need them when driving the GTO but on the 911 with its slow unassisted steering, I find that I really have to grab and crank on the wheel for certain corners and the gloves help. I dont know that I would like anything that wasnt leather for a driving glove.

Usually none, but I've used full-finger cycling gloves when I remember to bring them.

As someone stated, mechanics gloves work very well.

For leather, I like batting gloves.

I've got some old OMP gloves I picked up for half-off back when there was still a CDOC store at VIR, they're almost certainly past their SFI pull-date but for AX and arrive-and-drive karting they're awesome. I've used full-finger mountain bike gloves and motocross gloves (MX clothing is to the MTB world what circle track parts are to roadracing, at least as far as price goes lol) and they work quite well as long as the glove maker doesn't go overboard on the padding, either on the palm or the backside. never come anywhere near wearing a pair out autocrossing so I can't speak to durability that way, but the MX gloves I've used tend to get "action sports glove funk" LONG before they wear thin. If you need to wash them, throw them in the washing machine on cold and don't throw them in the dryer or they won't live very long, ask me how I know

I'm sure glad to see that I am not the only one who likes autox-ing with golf gloves. At <$20 for several pairs, they are certainly wallet friendly too!

At the autocross last Sunday, I didn't wear my gloves.

I didn't do well.

So there is that.

I like the slip on mechanix gloves, mostly so i don't wreck my nice steering wheel with my gross sweaty hands.

Ted Mosby wears driving gloves.

I have some leather ones I bought off Amazon. I only wear them on cold mornings though. Never tried autocrossing with them though.
