Funny you mention that N Sperlo because I have Vibram 5 fingers and have driven with them to work but never in a performance capacity. Its interesting feeling your foot actually curl around the pedal

Well you definitely feel EVERYTHING when wearing em :)

When I drove a truck back in high school, I loved driving it barefoot. Of the shoes that I currently wear, I really like the Nike Sweet Legacys. They're quite comfy; a bit more substantial than Chuck Taylors, but not as bulky as a lot of the skate shoes I have seen.

I read a huge thread on some other forum that said Chuck Taylor's are the most popular shoe amongst pros when they are not needing the fire protection etc. And that you need to find the right size and toss them in the dryer to soften them up

They're narrow, light, have a flat grippy bottom, rounded heel, and are comfy enough to stand around in all day. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Yeah, I use the ball of my foot and roll over. Unfortunately with my small size 9 feet I can't do it in the Miata..........so I haven't been heel-toeing, and just easing out the clutch in braking zones.........or popping it in the slow corners for some extra rotation.

I like the Adidas wrestling shoes...extremely lightweight with very thin soles that are perfect for pedal feel, kind of look like a driving/racing shoe, and they are not too expensive.

I used my old wrestling shoes to rock climb. Non-automotive rock climb. A lot of flex room there.

Puma suedes- But puma has pissed me off with their tragic customer service, I may not purchase anymore. I do like driving in the Vibrams as well. Probably try the Sparco shoes eventually.

A flat billed hat is really more important than shoes when dodging the cones. Lets get real, people.

Knock off Chuck T's. $12 Surprisingly comfortable all around use, even wandering Boston all day.

So I got some of those shoes I linked in the OP, they are pretty comfortable and seem to work well for driving.

I've had my Speedcats for a few years now. They mainly get used for the track, but I wear them around town sometimes. Seem to be holding up well.

I used to wear Piloti DTMs, but at the last autocross I was at I drove and chased cones in them and the leather separated from the sole and then the sole separated from the weird '60s-F1-esque tread on the sole and they were royally done... replaced them with some weird Puma low-top that I can't pronounce and haven't put on another pair of shoes since, soft sole but not so soft that a small/heavy clutch pedal hurts the center of the ball of your foot in heavy traffic, just wide enough to heel-toe in but not too wide to get hung up on everything, comfortable to walk around in all day (with the standard insoles, could do for a little more squooshy under the heel but the insoles aren't replaceable so it's moot) and they don't look half bad either

The original Addidas Racers here......followed closely by the original speedcats. I've had about 4 different versions of each, but I'm glad I never wore out the original ones.

Super worn down van's, and a pair of speedcats.

I keep the speedcats in the car as they are uncomfortable as hell to walk around in.
